QUESTIONNAIRE
RIGHT TO LIFE
Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?
To protect the life of the mother, should that extremely rare if ever circumstance present itself.
Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).
Strongly Agree
Not only does our state budget prohibit the use of state tax dollars for Planned Parenthood, but in our most recent budget, the House also voted not to accept federal funding that would have been required to be passed-through to PP and other abortion providers.
I support 'aid in dying' laws which legalize assisted suicide and euthanasia.
Strongly Disagree
RELIGIOUS LIBERTY
Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.
Strongly Disagree
Under what circumstances can government close churches?
Under no circumstances, per the First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.
NATIONAL SECURITY
What should the United States do to help eradicate the threat of Islamic terrorism?
Maintain a strong national defense, re-focus domestic law enforcement surveillance and activity toward foreign terrorists (not justifiably angry conservative parents at school board meetings), and secure our southern border and otherwise enforce all existing immigration laws. Increase funding for local law enforcement. I do not favor involving U.S. troops in endless foreign wars and support legislation to require that no state National Guard troops can be deployed to combat or combat support activities overseas unless Congress shall first have declared war as provided by the U.S. Constitution.
I support the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement to pressure Israel to withdraw from occupied territories, remove the separation barrier in the West Bank, allow full equality for Arab-Palestinian citizens of Israel, and promote the rights of Palestinian refugees.
Strongly Disagree
The Lord said in Genesis 12:3, "I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee."
HEALTHCARE
What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D)Tax-payer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be de-funded.
Option C.
Under what circumstances (if any) should a government, school, or employer be allowed to require vaccinations?
Under no circumstance.
ECONOMY
What changes, if any, should be made to the tax code?
Reduce state income tax. Suspend state gas tax. Repeal the Pension Tax, and exempt up to $40,000 of retirement income for seniors. Increase the Earned Income Tax Credit. Restore the $500 per child tax credit. Allow funds spent for private school tuition to be used as a credit against state taxes. As a state representative, I actually voted in favor of all the above.
What government spending would you reduce in order to balance the budget?
Eliminate corporate welfare, i.e., the transfer of tax dollars to major corporate development projects. Sell vacant state office space statewide to eliminate upkeep costs. Eliminate the state Department of Education, since all education decisions should be made by local parents and school boards.
Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.
Strongly Disagree
IMMIGRATION
The U.S. should do more to physically secure the southern border.
Strongly Agree
Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?
Only in accordance with law. Only if properly vetted to ensure they pose no threat to American families and security. And only two circumstances I can think of: (1) Individuals who are identified as likely to make valuable contributions to our society, such as physicians, engineers, and other professionals, and (2) individuals from allied countries that are under attack (Ukraine) and individuals who have supported U.S. military activity in foreign countries and would be in danger if left in those countries after our military involvement ends.
EDUCATION
I support school choice, including voucher programs, tax credits, charter schools, private schools, and home schools.
Strongly Agree
As a state representative, I voted in favor of both Education Savings Accounts and in favor of legislation to establish a state tax credit for expenditures made by parents or a third party to pay tuition to a non-public school. I voted to ensure equal tax-funding of charter schools. My son attended a private Christian school, and all of our five children were homeschooled for at least part of their K-12 education experience.
CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY
Police officers should be personally immune from prosecution for conduct consistent with departmental policy (qualified immunity) while on duty.
Strongly Agree
I support redirecting funds from police departments to mental health and community programs.
Strongly Disagree
I do support funding of mental health and community programs that are consistent with our traditional values, but not at the expense of law enforcement budgets.
2ND AMENDMENT
What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?
I strongly support the 2nd Amendment, which states that the Right to Keep and Bear Arms "shall not be infringed."
Victims of gun violence should be able to sue firearms dealers and manufacturers.
Strongly Disagree
ABOUT YOU
What do you think is the general purpose of government?
"We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal and are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness, and THAT TO SECURE THESE RIGHTS, GOVERNMENTS ARE INSTITUTED AMONG MEN."
When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?
Very Conservative
Please provide publicly available information, including interviews and media reports, validating your answer to the previous question (other than your website).
The "Important Issues" page of my website -- https://annetteglenn.com/on-the-issues/ -- includes hyperlinks to the original source documents and media reports that verify my conservative credentials and record. I served as state chair of Youth for Reagan at age 21, and I've been married to and supported my husband, president of the American Family Association of Michigan, for nearly 40 years.
Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized in either civil or criminal court for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.
No.
What else would you like voters to know about you, including your legislative priorities?
I would prefer to be just a Grandma, but I feel a sense of calling and duty to preserve for my children and grandchildren the free country I inherited from my parents and those Americans who came before them. That includes maintaining the Judeo-Christian values and faith in God on which our nation was founded, which have served as the firm foundation of our freedoms.
VALUES
Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which is necessary for our system of limited government.
Strongly Agree
I support adding gender identity as a specially protected class in non-discrimination laws.
Strongly Disagree
Marriage is a God-ordained, sacred and legal union of one man and one woman. No government has the authority to alter this definition
Strongly Agree
My husband was one of two coauthors of Michigan's Marriage Protection Amendment, approved by voters in 2004.
I agree with Critical Race Theory (CRT) which asserts that the institutions in the United States are fundamentally racist.
Strongly Disagree
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
I believe in Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior.
ELECTIONS AND VOTING
People should be able to vote without photo identification.
Strongly Disagree
I voted to require a photo I.D. in order to vote.
What laws would you propose to change present voting practices?
I voted in favor of these and other Election Integrity bills: HB 4837 and HB 4838 — Prohibits connecting voting machines to the Internet and blocks private entities from having access to the voter file. HB 4127 — Removes dead people from the voter file. HBs 4132 and 4133 — Makes it a felony to knowingly provide false information on an absentee voter application. HB 4845 and HB 4129 — Requires Secretary of State to train local clerks on how to lawfully verify absentee ballot signatures and to post online the names of clerks who haven’t completed required continuing education in election administration.
EQUALITY
Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?
No. Our current society is more open, welcoming, and accepting of all races than at any point in the history of the United States.
Reparations should be given to people on the basis of race.
Strongly Disagree
ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT
Which comes closest to your view? A) Stricter environmental laws and regulations cost too many jobs and hurt the economy. B) Stricter environmental laws and regulations are worth the cost.
A.
I support the use of hydraulic fracking to extract oil and natural gas resources.
Strongly Agree
One oil field alone in the Rockies has more oil than the rest of the entire world combined. God has indeed blessed America, materially and otherwise.
