Under what circumstances should an elective abortion be allowed?
My wife and I have experienced the difficult and painful experience of abortion before – this is part of what has made me so strongly prolife. I support legislation that would restrict abortion after a heartbeat is detected, with protections for extreme situations such as rape, incest or when the life of the mother is in danger.
Chemical abortion drugs should meet essential safety standards (such as in-person consultation with a medical doctor) and require reporting to gather evidence on reactions and outcomes.

Under what circumstances can government close churches?
The right to worship is one of the most fundamental freedoms guaranteed to us by the Bill of Rights. If I am elected governor, we will not repeat the draconian lockdowns of 2020. The government should not be able to tell the people they cannot gather to worship freely.
Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.

Is the United States' relationship with Israel important, and if so why?
As the only democracy in the Middle East, and one that consistently stands against Islamic extremist terrorism, Israel is one of our country’s strongest allies. After the terrorist attacks of October 2023, Israel once again came under attack by their enemies that seek to wipe the Jewish people off the map. I went to Israel after the attacks and saw what the people of Israel are up against. North Carolina and the United States must stand with Israel and the Jewish people against terrorism.
HEALTHCARE
What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D) Taxpayer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be defunded.

If elected governor, my plan for improving healthcare for all North Carolinians includes creating more transparency in medical billing, tackling waste, fraud and abuse in the system to help further reduce costs and save taxpayer dollars, and supporting rural healthcare providers to make sure that North Carolinians of all backgrounds and communities can access the care they need.
Under what circumstances (if any) should a government, school, or employer be allowed to require vaccinations?
I support current law that requires vaccinations for dangerous diseases before attending school with religious and medical exemptions. I oppose the overreach and mandates from the COVID-19 pandemic such as requiring COVID-19 vaccines.
ECONOMY
Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.

Free-market capitalism is part of what makes our country so great – and has helped build the most significant expansion of peace and prosperity in human history.
What is your position on the minimum wage?
Minimum wage jobs are more entry-level. Rather than raising the minimum wage, I want to maximize opportunities for people by creating more high-paying jobs and giving our workforce the training, skills and experience they need for these positions.
Should environmental and social issues, like ESG (environmental, social, and governance) ratings, be used as criteria in deciding where to invest public monies?
No
No. The priority should be responsible stewardship of taxpayer dollars that evaluates risk and return on financial terms – not based on extreme political agendas.
EDUCATION
The state should fund education by allowing dollars to follow the child through programs which protect parents' freedom to choose their child's school – public, private, or homeschool.

I strongly support school choice. Funding should focus on students. Since the pandemic, children are still struggling to catch up. We must get politics out of our classrooms, refocus on academics and give families and students more options to suit their needs. We’ve made some progress by expanding school choice. There is much more work to do. As governor I hope to build on this progress with initiatives that further bolster school choice like opportunity scholarships and more.
CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY

2ND AMENDMENT
What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?
I support Constitutional Carry and as governor I will fight to enact this legislation. I got involved in politics by standing up to far-left activists trying to cancel a gun show in my hometown. I am honored to serve on the board of the National Rifle Association. I am a strong supporter of our 2nd amendment rights and all of those enshrined by the founders in our Constitution and the Bill of Rights. As governor I will fight to protect our constitutional rights, including the 2nd Amendment.

What do you think is the general purpose of government?
To uphold our laws and Constitution, and to protect the life, rights and property of our citizens; these principles are all clearly outlined in our founding documents like the Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution – especially the preamble which states that the Union and Constitution were necessary to “…establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity”.

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
I am a Christian – I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God who died on the cross to save us from our sins. I am a sinner and in need of God’s forgiveness, which I ask through the grace of His Son Jesus. For too long, elected officials have put politics ahead of the people. I’ve had the honor of serving as North Carolina’s Lieutenant Governor since January 2021. I’m a former factory worker who knows what it is like to struggle to make ends meet – not a career politician. North Carolinians have had enough of career politicians climbing the ladder from office to office. I know what our families and businesses are going through and I will work hard every day to focus on real solutions to the problems facing everyday North Carolinians.
ELECTIONS AND VOTING

As lieutenant governor, I’ve been a strong advocate for continuing to modernize our election systems and bolster election integrity – I’ve even testified to Congress in support of these priorities. I support Republican-led reforms to make it easier to vote and harder to cheat, such as enacting our state’s voter ID law and ensuring that the rules for early and absentee voting are more uniform throughout the state – so that everyone plays by the same rules.

A & C; We can cut costs of energy for consumers while moving to 100-percent sustainable energy production. We can do that by understanding the energy needs of our state, using what is available currently to fulfill those needs, and investing in future technologies that will provide safe and sustainable energy. We need to prioritize reducing costs, securing the electric grid from potential physical and cyber attacks as well as natural disasters, and prevent blackouts with adequate production.
