QUESTIONNAIRE
RIGHT TO LIFE
Human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection at every stage until natural death.
Strongly Agree
Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds or grants from federal, state, or local governments.
Strongly Agree
I support the Born Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, which requires health care providers to provide life-saving treatment for infants who survive an attempted abortion.
Strongly Agree
Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?
I believe that life begins at conception and must be protected under all circumstances.
ECONOMY
It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has a livable income.
Disagree
Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.
Strongly Agree
How would you guarantee Social Security benefits for future generations?
We need to keep the promise we've made to our retiring workers and ensure we do not perpetuate deficit spending that drives up the United States debt.
What government spending would you reduce in order to balance the budget?
I believe the government could save billions of dollars if we transferred some of the responsibility of our federal agencies to the states, such as the department of education. I also believe that we should eliminate or consolidate duplicative programs. There are also areas of the government that would be more efficiently carried out by the taxpayer. I also believe that we must reform our welfare programs and eliminate waste, fraud and abuse.
Under what circumstances should taxpayers help pay off existing student loans?
It is not the responsibility of tax payers, especially those who did not go to college or incur debt while in college, to pay for those who have.
RELIGIOUS LIBERTY
Governments should not discriminate against individuals, organizations or small businesses because of their belief that marriage is only a union of one man and one woman.
Strongly Agree
Religious liberty is at risk in the United States and deserves the highest level of protection in the law.
Strongly Agree
I promise to protect the freedom of Christians to share the Gospel and to practice Biblical principles.
Yes
What does "separation of church and state" mean to you?
I view the "separation of church and state" to mean exactly what Jefferson referenced in his an 1801 letter to the Danbury Baptist Association in Connecticut, that religious liberty, free from state tampering, would be a key part of the American vision.
HEALTHCARE
It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has health insurance.
Strongly Disagree
I support the elimination of private healthcare insurance.
Strongly Disagree
How would you promote healthcare coverage that is adequate, affordable and accessible for all?
I believe that the states are best equipped to solve the healthcare issues facing the nation. The government, as we have seen with Obamacare, is ill-equipped to solve this issue. I believe that we must empower individuals to make whatever decision they deem best for their specific circumstance and their families.
NATIONAL SECURITY
The best way to maintain peace is through a strong military.
Strongly Agree
What should the United States do to help eradicate the threat of radical Islamic terrorism?
As a policy advisor in Washington working for a Republican, I believe that empowering the religious leaders within the Muslim community and requiring them to step up and protect their own religion is necessary. As an advisor, I also helped promote legislation to empower the State Department and our law enforcement entities with the tools they need by creating a specific designation, such as a FTO designation, for radical Islamist groups like the Muslim Brotherhood and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard that espouse radical Islamic beliefs. I also believe Muslim countries in the Middle East must do a better job at monitoring their own region and working together to prevent radical elements from growing, as the United States, as we have seen time and time again is not well-positioned to solve the problems in the Middle East.
IMMIGRATION
I am in favor of construction of a wall and other necessary infrastructure on our border that gives complete control over entering and exiting the United States.
Strongly Agree
Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) should be abolished.
Strongly Disagree
State and federal funds should be denied to any public or private entity, including but not limited to sanctuary cities, that are not in compliance with immigration laws.
Strongly Agree
Employers should be required to use E-verify to confirm the eligibility of their employees to work in the United States.
Disagree
iVoterGuide Notes:
After the voter guide was published, candidate notified iVoterGuide that the intended answer to this survey question should have been ‘Strongly Agree’.
Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?
I believe that anyone should be allowed to legally immigrate to the United States so long as they have not broken the laws in the county they came or broken the laws of the United States. I believe we should have a cap, though, and incentivize high-skilled labor.
EDUCATION
Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.
Disagree
VALUES
Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which is necessary for our system of limited government.
Strongly Agree
I support adding sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression as protected classes in non-discrimination laws.
Disagree
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
I am a Christian and the Christian principles instilled in me at a young age guide me in life to this day. However, I respect the right for all individuals to practice their own religion peacefully so long as it does not pose a threat to Americans at home or abroad.
ABOUT YOU
When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and immigration, which of the following best describes you overall?
Very Conservative
Please provide publicly available information validating your answer to the previous question.
I believe strongly in the idea of a small, limited government, that any responsibility of the government not expressly outlined in the Constitution is reserved for the states.
Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.
No
Is there anything else you would like voters to know about you?
I worked in Washington for seven years and have seen how the process works on a very intimate policy level, and I have also seen why is is not working for the American people today. It was because of my frustrations with Washington that I ultimately left and came home to Texas to start a successful family business back. Due to that experience, I know firsthand the struggles job creators face from high taxes and regulation and am ready to stand against anything from DC that would hinder growth in Texas. I am the only candidate running in this election that has the know-how and experience combined with West Texas conservative values to hit the ground running on day one and work to get good conservative policies passed for this congressional district.
CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY
Mandatory minimum sentencing should be required and enforced for violent crimes.
Agree
2ND AMENDMENT
What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?
The only restriction on gun ownership should apply to those who fail a background check. All other restrictions I consider to be an infringement on the 2nd Amendment of the Constitution and will oppose.
OTHER IMPORTANT ISSUES
I support BDS (boycott, divestment, and sanction) against Israel if they refuse to allow the creation of a Palestinian state.
Strongly Disagree
I support the legalization of recreational marijuana.
Disagree
Reparations should be given to people on the basis of race.
Disagree
The Electoral College should be abolished.
Disagree
In priority order, what three areas of legislation do you propose to author or sponsor if elected?
1.) I will support term limits and, if it does not exist, author legislation to impose term limits on Congress. 2.) I also believe we must have a better idea of whether or not U.S. taxpayer money to multilateral organizations is meeting its intended purpose, and if not it needs to be reviewed and or terminated to that multilateral, such as the United Nations. 3.)While in Congress, I drafted legislation for the Congressman known as the One In, Two Out Act, that would
Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?
As an African American, I know racism is a real thing. However, I believe that the threat of it is often exaggerated. With that said, we must always be open and honest about the state of our nation on matters pertaining to race and be willing to address racism appropriately when it rears its ugly head. A failure to do so has the potential to result in the large protests that we have seen over the course of the past decade, and previous decades. On this issue, we must always be willing to engage one another in open and honest communication.
