QUESTIONNAIRE

RIGHT TO LIFE

Under what circumstances should an elective abortion be allowed?

Elective abortions should be allowed up until the fetus can live outside the womb. After that, it should be allowed in the case of rape, incest, to save the life of the mother, or to save the life of a twin. This happened in my family. My sister-in-law lost both twins because a restrictive law would not allow the procedure necessary to save one of them.

Chemical abortion drugs should meet essential safety standards (such as in-person consultation with a medical doctor) and require reporting to gather evidence on reactions and outcomes.

Disagree

Consultation with a doctor is certainly a good idea, but restrictions are often used to make it difficult for women to have a legal abortion.

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).

Strongly Disagree

Many low income women use free services at Planned Parenthood that have nothing to do with abortions. Cutting funding would have unintended consequences on women's health.

I support 'aid in dying' laws which legalize assisted suicide and euthanasia.

Strongly Agree

ECONOMY

Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.

Neutral

I think corporations should consider stakeholder needs as well as shareholder needs.

What is your position on the minimum wage?

A minimum wage should provide a minimum standard of living for people

Should environmental and social issues, like ESG (environmental, social, and governance) ratings, be used as criteria in deciding where to invest public monies?

Yes

That is what I consider responsible investing. Particularly, companies that consider environmental concerns are likelier to be profitable in the future.

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

Under what circumstances can government close churches?

There are no circumstances under which the government should be able to close legitimate churches.

Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.

Neutral

It depends. No, if it is a nonessential service that is widely available. Yes, if if's an essential service or it's being used as a reason to discriminate or make others live by the employer's religious beliefs. Definitely, such as in a case where it might cause harm to another person, such as in a case where a doctor is required to perform an abortion to save the life of the woman.

HEALTHCARE

What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D) Taxpayer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be defunded.

B)

Under what circumstances (if any) should a government, school, or employer be allowed to require vaccinations?

The government, school, or employer should be allowed to require vaccinations unless there are valid reasons a person should be exempted.

NATIONAL SECURITY

The Chinese Communist Party poses serious military, cyber security, intellectual property, and global economic threats to the United States.

Agree

Is the United States' relationship with Israel important, and if so why?

Yes, it is. However, stopping the killing of civilians and the destruction of property in Gaza should be a condition If we are to continue to supply them weapons,

IMMIGRATION

The U.S. should do more to physically secure the southern border.

Neutral

The border is too long to physically secure and some of the methods attempting to do that, such as razor wire, are rather draconian. We should work with the Latin American countries to reduce the reasons people are immigrating and pass the bipartisan border bill which will help secure the border and ensure that immigrants are treated lawfully.

EDUCATION

The state should fund education by allowing dollars to follow the child through programs which protect parents' freedom to choose their child's school – public, private, or homeschool.

Strongly Disagree

The state should fund education for excellence, and no public funds should be used to fund unregulated private education.

VALUES

Parents should have the right to make decisions for their minor children.

Agree

In most cases that is true, however, some parents are irresponsible and courts should have the right to override their decisions.

Taxpayer funds should be used to provide gender transition services.

Disagree

Taxpayer funds should not in general be used to provide gender transition services, but there are cases where it might be appropriate.

Marriage is a God-ordained, sacred and legal union of one man and one woman. No government has the authority to alter this definition.

Strongly Disagree

This definition of marriage is based upon one particular religious view and should not apply to those with different religious views.

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I attend Christian religious services and follow the teachings of Jesus.

Children are the most vulnerable members of society and must be protected from abuse, including gender ideology, grooming, and bodily mutilation.

Strongly Agree

I strongly agree that children should be protected from abuse, grooming, and bodily mutilations. Gender ideology refers to attitudes regarding the appropriate roles, rights, and responsibilities of men and women in society. Including it in the list is probably a bias held by the author.

ELECTIONS AND VOTING

People should be able to vote without photo identification.

Strongly Disagree

National voter rules only require that to register a person must certify that, under penalty of perjury, that they are a citizen of the United States. Many citizens find it hard to come up with a photo ID. My mother never drove or had a driver's license, and she found it very difficult to come up with a photo ID. Many states try to require one to make it difficult for people to register and vote.

States should join the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact which makes the Electoral College irrelevant.

Strongly Agree

Someone who wins election without the popular vote is not really the choice of the people.

EQUALITY

Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?

Yes, it is. Much of the hate toward other citizens is caused by racial, gender, or religious biases.

I agree with Critical Race Theory (CRT) which asserts that the institutions in the United States are fundamentally racist.

Strongly Disagree

The institutions of the United States are not races.

Biological males should not be allowed to participate in women's sports or occupy biological women's spaces whether it be bathrooms, locker rooms, sorority houses, women's shelters, or prison.

Neutral

The gender of human beings has several variations and this statement is not consistent with modern genetics.

ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT

Which comes closest to your view? (Select all that apply) A) Stricter environmental laws and regulations cost too many jobs and hurt the economy. B) Stricter environmental laws and regulations are worth the cost. C) Stricter environmental laws undermine U.S. energy independence and deter development of reliable electricity sources. D) Climate change is real and requires urgent policy action.

D) We are already seeing the consequences of global warming. Nicholas Stern, when President of the World Bank, calculated the economic costs of failing to act on global warming. He found that the cost equaled 10% our GDP, and that it will rise to 50% by 2050 if corrective action is not taken.

What do you believe is the most reliable energy source that will supply the growing demand for electricity?

Renewable energy sources are now less expensive than fossil fuels. We will need to use fossil fuels or hydrogen as backup as the renewable energy sources are being developed, but we should phase fossil fuels out as soon as possible.

ABOUT YOU

Have you ever been penalized for sexual misconduct in either civil or criminal court? If so, please explain.

No.

Have you ever been convicted of a felony? If so, please explain.

No.

What do you think is the general purpose of government?

Did not answer

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?

Moderate

2ND AMENDMENT

What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?

We need to make good gun laws that respect Second Amendment rights and keep guns out of the hands of those who would misuse them.

Should teachers be allowed to carry guns at school?

Yes

There might be some instances where teachers might need to carry a gun at school, but for the most part it should be discouraged for safety reasons. Most schools now have security provisions and security guards.

OTHER IMPORTANT ISSUES

I support the legalization of recreational marijuana.

Neutral

I support Medical marijuana as it has been found to reduce seizures in children and relieve pain more effectively and less expensively than opioids. Many states have now legalized or decriminalized recreational marijuana, I think most states will probably follow suit for economic reasons. It can be taxed and it reduces the cost of imprisoning people for marijuana violations.
