QUESTIONNAIRE

RIGHT TO LIFE

Human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection at every stage until natural death.

Strongly Agree

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds or grants from federal, state, or local governments.

Strongly Agree

I support the Born Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, which requires health care providers to provide life-saving treatment for infants who survive an attempted abortion.

Strongly Agree

Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?

None. I condemn as murder and oppose any and every procedure the purpose of which is to kill an unborn child. At the same time, I believe a pregnant woman has a right to preserve her life and a right to prevent substantial and irreversible physical impairment of a major bodily function. However, everything possible should always be done to preserve both the life and the bodily integrity of the unborn child. Everything possible should always be done to both preserve and prevent harm to all innocent human life including all unborn children.

ECONOMY

It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has a livable income.

Strongly Disagree

Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.

Strongly Agree

What government spending would you reduce in order to balance the budget?

Government spending can be reduced in various ways. Public agencies should frugally operate within their means and, during difficult times, tighten their belts like the rest of us. Every agency should provide appropriators an itemized budget request enumerating every funding request in order of priority. Except for law enforcement vehicles or the occurrence of an accident, vehicles should not be replaced until they’ve reached 150,000 miles. Poorly performing agencies should receive less funding.

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

Governments should not discriminate against individuals, organizations or small businesses because of their belief that marriage is only a union of one man and one woman.

Strongly Agree

Governments should define marriage as between one man and one woman; no other definition of marriage should be legalized or supported with taxpayer or public funds.

Strongly Agree

Religious liberty is at risk in the United States and deserves the highest level of protection in the law.

Strongly Agree

I promise to protect the freedom of Christians to share the Gospel and to practice Biblical principles.

Yes

What does "separation of church and state" mean to you?

This phrase refers to Jefferson's 1802 assertion that, through the Establishment Clause and the Free Exercise Clause of the First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, Americans built "a wall of separation between Church & State.” This assertion, made in 1802, means only what Jefferson intended it to mean. More importantly, Jefferson's assertion is not part of the First Amendment, which was ratified in 1791, and therefore neither supersedes nor determines the meaning of either the Establishment Clause or the Free Exercise Clause. Those clauses mean what their words say and reasonably imply in the context of the time and place of their ratification. The Establishment Clause was NOT intended to be used as an instrument to remove from American public life (including public schools) the Bible or Judeo-Christian principles and values. The Free Exercise Clause WAS intended to very broadly protect individual religious freedom.

HEALTHCARE

It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has health insurance.

Strongly Disagree

How would you promote healthcare coverage that is adequate, affordable and accessible for all?

By, for example, removing overly detailed regulations governing the delivery and financing of medical care, allowing competent health care practitioners licensed in other states to practice in Kansas, refusing to expand Medicaid beyond its original focus of helping the most vulnerable in society (children, disabled, or elderly Americans in poverty), and promoting telemedicine.

NATIONAL SECURITY

The best way to maintain peace is through a strong military.

Strongly Agree

IMMIGRATION

I am in favor of construction of a wall and other necessary infrastructure on our border that gives complete control over entering and exiting the United States.

Strongly Agree

State and federal funds should be denied to any public or private entity, including but not limited to sanctuary cities, that are not in compliance with immigration laws.

Strongly Agree

Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?

No alien should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. unless he/she, among other things, (1) supports the U.S. Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution, (2) supports the principles and values underlying those documents, (3) opposes both collectivist (or redistributionist) ideologies and identity politics, (4) wants and has the ability to provide for himself / herself, (5) speaks and reads or is willing to learn to speak and read American English, (6) has never done anything that, in the U.S., would be considered a felony, and (7) complies with U.S. immigration law.

EDUCATION

Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.

Strongly Disagree

VALUES

Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which is necessary for our system of limited government.

Strongly Agree

I support adding sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression as protected classes in non-discrimination laws.

Strongly Disagree

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

The Bible (from Genesis to Revelation) is God's Word. The God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob is the one, true, and only God. He is infinitely holy and flawless and the standard of goodness and morality. He created humans in His image. We rebelled against Him, fell, and became inherently corrupt. We can never perfect or redeem ourselves. God is a triune being, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. God the Son became flesh as/in Jesus of Nazareth, fully God and fully man, to redeem us. Jesus conquered this world, sin, death, and Satan. Jesus lived a perfect life. He literally died on the cross. God literally raised Him from the dead. Jesus ascended to return to the Father in heaven. Through Jesus alone there is hope, reconciliation with God, and eternal life. Jesus will return to judge all. God will create a new heaven and earth without end wherein there will be no evil, death, or suffering. All who reject Jesus will be eternally separated from God.

As a U.S. military veteran, husband, father, and an attorney, I know the challenges of raising a family, stretching a budget, making ends meet, and the consequences of laws.

Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.

NO. NEVER.

Strongly Disagree

CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY

Mandatory minimum sentencing should be required and enforced for violent crimes.

Strongly Agree

2ND AMENDMENT

Should teachers be allowed to carry guns at school?

Yes

I will always oppose any attempt to infringe the right of a competent, law abiding citizen to keep, bear, obtain, or transport arms and ammunition.

OTHER IMPORTANT ISSUES

People should be able to vote without photo identification.

Strongly Disagree

I support the legalization of recreational marijuana.

Strongly Disagree

The Electoral College should be abolished.

Strongly Disagree

In priority order, what three areas of legislation do you propose to author or sponsor if elected?

I will author or sponsor legislation that - - 1. Protects unborn children; 2. Protects the right to keep, bear, obtain, or transport arms and ammunition; 3. Protects religious freedom, the freedom of speech, and health freedom; 4. Protects the right to work and earn a living; and 5. Seeks to amend the U.S. Constitution to impose fiscal restraints on the federal government, limit the power and jurisdiction of the federal government, and limit the terms of office for federal officials.

Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?

All who do evil and/or injustice, refuse to exercise self-control, willfully engage in disorderly conduct, suppress free speech and debate, compel speech, or deny logic, truth, or reality are a threat to domestic security in the United States.
