QUESTIONNAIRE

RIGHT TO LIFE

Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?

None

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).

Strongly Agree

If Roe v. Wade is overturned by the US Supreme Court, how far are you willing to go to roll back North Carolina's statutory abortion law that allows abortion up to 20 weeks?

Would be willing to sponsor or cosponsor legislation to protect life as early as possible.

I support 'aid in dying' laws which legalize assisted suicide and euthanasia.

Strongly Disagree

Would you support a limitation on chemical abortion that protects women from taking abortion pills without the care and supervision of a qualified physician?

Yes

ECONOMY

The government should do more to close the gap between the working class and the wealthy.

Strongly Disagree

The marketplace will close the gap if government puts a focus on creating a business friendly environment where both employers and employees can thrive.

What changes, if any, should be made to the tax code?

Simplifying our tax system to where the average citizen can do their own taxes. Elements of the plan would be doing away with the income-based tax approach, phasing out the corporate tax, raising the standard deduction, and doing away with the franchise tax especially for small businesses.

Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.

Strongly Disagree

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.

Strongly Disagree

Under what circumstances can government close churches?

None

What should be the relationship between the church and the state?

We elect our representatives to represent our values, and I have been clear that I do NOT leave my values at the door when I go into vote. Our rights are God given, not government given.

HEALTHCARE

What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D)Tax-payer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be de-funded.

C would be the closest but with elements of the standardizing the cost through private insurance companies so the state and the taxpayers know exactly what they are paying and can eliminate fraud.

Under what circumstances (if any) should a government, school, or employer be allowed to require vaccinations?

None

EDUCATION

States should allow parents to use the Opportunity Scholarship Program to fund private school for their children.

Strongly Agree

In what situations does a parent not have the right to know what their child is being taught in public school?

None

When should parents be restricted from speaking in school board meetings?

Never

VALUES

Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which is necessary for our system of limited government.

Strongly Agree

I support adding gender identity as a specially protected class in non-discrimination laws.

Strongly Disagree

I agree with Critical Race Theory (CRT) which asserts that the institutions in the United States are fundamentally racist.

Strongly Disagree

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

That God died on the cross for our sins and we should live to glorify him. That is the best way to lead others to him. A big part of this is treating others the way that we want to be treated. If everyone respected the sanctity of life and liberty the way we want others to respect our life and liberty, it would solve a lot of the issues dividing the state and country.

ELECTIONS AND VOTING

People should be able to vote without photo identification.

Strongly Disagree

What laws would you propose to change present voting practices?

Implement voter ID, vote in person and on election day or at the very least shorten early voting, limit absentee ballots to strict circumstances (such as military service, severe illness), no voting machines allowed to hook up to internet, stronger chain possession requirements, clean voter rolls more often, stronger penalties for violating laws.

EQUALITY

Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?

No, but being "woke" regarding international policy is a threat to domestic security.

ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT

Which comes closest to your view? A) Stricter environmental laws and regulations cost too many jobs and hurt the economy. B) Stricter environmental laws and regulations are worth the cost.

A. It puts the United States at a huge disadvantage when we are the only ones going by these strict regulations while China and others ignore them.

ABOUT YOU

What do you think is the general purpose of government?

To give the people a voice while not interfering with how they chose to live their life, care for their family and conduct their business. Government should be to protect God given rights, not infringe on them.

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?

Very Conservative

Please provide publicly available information, including interviews and media reports, validating your answer to the previous question (other than your website).

https://www.blueridgenow.com/story/news/2021/12/07/republican-rep-jake-johnson-seeks-re-election-nc-house/8888204002/

Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized in either civil or criminal court for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.

No

What else would you like voters to know about you, including your legislative priorities?

I will always fight for our Conservative Christian Values. I am driven by tangible results and getting things done, not increasing my profile or repeating rhetoric. I am pro life, pro second amendment, pro business, pro veteran/law enforcement, pro election integrity, and believe that we have to put a stop to the dictator-like rule that has sparked from these executive orders. No one person should be able to unilaterally shut down a state or make health decisions for individuals and families.

CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY

Police officers should be personally immune from prosecution for conduct consistent with departmental policy (qualified immunity) while on duty.

Strongly Agree

I support redirecting funds from police departments to mental health and community programs.

Strongly Disagree

2ND AMENDMENT

What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?

None, you cannot legislate morality and more laws will just negatively impact law-abiding citizens.

Victims of gun violence should be able to sue firearms dealers and manufacturers.

Strongly Disagree

OTHER IMPORTANT ISSUES

Would you support legislation that prohibits biological boys from competing on girls sports teams?

Yes

I am a proud co-sponsor of the Save Women's Sports Act
