10. Why are you running for this office?

It is time NC had a strong Superintendent with a bold vision and a proven track record of conservative reform in education. NC schools have failed to keep pace as the digital age unfolds; while we lost thousands of teachers and added more bureaucrats. We are considerably outpaced by international standards, and are lagging behind most of the nation with no answers short of lotteries and calls for further tax-increases. The future of our children and our state are too important for gambling and games. North Carolina’s economic vitality and social constructs depend on us improving education.
