QUESTIONNAIRE

RIGHT TO LIFE

Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?

Only under a strict, physician verified, reason that the mothers death would result in carrying the baby to term. In this case the mother could still refuse to have an abortion and take their chances to the result. I would never allow forced abortions.

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).

Strongly Agree

Strongly Agree

If Roe v. Wade is overturned by the US Supreme Court, how far are you willing to go to roll back North Carolina's statutory abortion law that allows abortion up to 20 weeks?

I would only support what I outlined in Question 1 above.

I would only support what I outlined in Question 1 above.

I support 'aid in dying' laws which legalize assisted suicide and euthanasia.

Strongly Disagree

Strongly Disagree

Would you support a limitation on chemical abortion that protects women from taking abortion pills without the care and supervision of a qualified physician?

Yes

ECONOMY

The government should do more to close the gap between the working class and the wealthy.

Disagree

The government's only responsibility is to provide equal opportunity not equality in results.

What changes, if any, should be made to the tax code?

Everyone should pay something regardless of financial strategies. A minimum tax bracket should be established even if the minimum is a small amount.

Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.

Strongly Disagree

K-12 should remain public funded however I do support having these public funds go to all learning institutions and not just "public schools". beyond K-12, should be the responsibility of the individual.

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.

Strongly Disagree

Under what circumstances can government close churches?

Only if their religious practices involve murder, rape etc (crimes against our Constitutional protections), involve mind altering procedures (those that prevent a person from making a rational decision about their religious choice), and those that promote financial scams.

What should be the relationship between the church and the state?

Other than my answer in Question 2 above, the government should promote the free exercise of religion.

HEALTHCARE

What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D)Tax-payer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be de-funded.

Medicare is a benefit guaranteed to those who have contributed to the fund over the years they have been employed. Even though the medicare and social security systems have been raided by Congressional action for years and have had their funds not saved but converted to government IOU's the commitment should remain. Medicaid is a system that cares for those who cannot take care of themselves to various degrees. That should continue. What should stop is the easy access to the system for those who engage in irresponsible behavior for the purpose of getting on the system. Private health care systems should be free to develop and sell health care plans that meet the needs that individuals determine are valuable to them. Private hospitals should be allowed to exist. Private or non-profit, or religious based clinics should be encouraged.

Under what circumstances (if any) should a government, school, or employer be allowed to require vaccinations?

Only proven vaccines should be considered as being required. Proven is the key word where a verifiable testing standard is established for each vaccine. Some exemptions must be allowed for religious or conscientious objections. An employer shall be given more latitude in requiring vaccinations than the government or schools. All entities that require vaccinations shall be held responsible for the ill side affects that the required vaccine produce. All entities that encounter such ill side affects shall be allowed to recover costs from the vaccine manufacturer unless the manufacturer clearly states the potential of certain side affects.

EDUCATION

States should allow parents to use the Opportunity Scholarship Program to fund private school for their children.

Strongly Agree

In fact, the Opportunity Scholarship Program should be replaced with an open enrollment system where the education dollars dedicated to education follow the student wherever they choose to go.

In what situations does a parent not have the right to know what their child is being taught in public school?

None.

When should parents be restricted from speaking in school board meetings?

Other than requiring people to sign up to speak, so the Board can plan their meeting, there should be no restrictions on parents being allowed to speak. Sign up deadline times should be reasonable and the sequence of when public comment times are scheduled to be heard should be first on any school board agenda.

VALUES

Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which is necessary for our system of limited government.

Strongly Agree

I support adding gender identity as a specially protected class in non-discrimination laws.

Strongly Disagree

Strongly Agree

I agree with Critical Race Theory (CRT) which asserts that the institutions in the United States are fundamentally racist.

Strongly Disagree

Strongly Disagree

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I believe the Bible is the perfect word of God. I believe Jesus is the son of God, is the Messiah spoken about in the Bible and only through Him is salvation and eternal life found. I believe that any decisions I make about legislation should first go through the filter of scripture so that my decisions will be in line, as humanly possible, with God's will. As best I can, with the help of God, I choose to live a life as an example of how a Christian legislator should live and work.

ELECTIONS AND VOTING

People should be able to vote without photo identification.

Strongly Disagree

What laws would you propose to change present voting practices?

Vote only on voting day. Absentee ballots should be restricted to those who either cannot get to a voting place or are scheduled to be out of town during that time. Paper ballots and hand counting of the ballots should be the law.

EQUALITY

Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?

Any discussion about racism has to begin with deciding on a definition of the word. It has become an abused and misrepresented word and it sole purpose is to put a label on someone to achieve a political goal. The United States of America is the most UNRACIST nation on earth. The discrimination industry, those who make their living on fighting racism, have perfected the search for racism so as to be able to "find evidence of racism under every rock" and perpetuate their existence. This is a disservice to our nation especially when we encounter a true case of racism (sometimes even being found where the past victims of racism are the ones doing the current racist acts). The solution to beginning the discussion about any forms of racism that may exist is to have an open discussion. This, however, is promoted by those who wish to fight racism but, at the same time, derailed by those same people. As long as racism is continually being redefined and their continues to be an ever growing and self perpetuating discrimination industry and victim-hood continues to sell newspapers we will never find a solution. It is good thing that God is still in control especially when confronted by an issue like this.

ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT

Which comes closest to your view? A) Stricter environmental laws and regulations cost too many jobs and hurt the economy. B) Stricter environmental laws and regulations are worth the cost.

Neither but a combination of both subject to the situation of each area of the environment. The biggest polluters in the world are those we do not have control over such as China, India and Second world nations. We can do expensive solutions to many environmental situations only to have minimum affect worldwide. In addition these measures can, and often do, come at a cost of jobs and making us less competitive. I support many environmental measures we take in the legislature but when they also can come with the creating of another large bureaucracy I reject them. Sometimes the bureaucracy is more costly than the solutions being presented. I support allowing people to put solar panels on their property but strongly oppose large solar arrays that convert our prized agricultural land to glass deserts where the survival of the industries are dependent on government and rate payer subsidies and only produce intermittent, unreliable power. I support new technologies that treat and clean our wastewater systems but have to fight with the entrenched environmental bureaucracies that don't want to accept change (this is sometimes hard to believe but it is true). I support smart growth of our economy and population needs but refuse to redefine smart growth as no growth as many environmental proponents do. And I refuse to support show conferences and treaty s where the US is to "take the lead" on environmental issues and all other just do lip service.

What else would you like voters to know about you, including your legislative priorities?

I have been blessed with being a part of the NC legislature that set NC on a path to economic prosperity from the beginning (2012). We have set a course for pro business, reduce taxes and unnecessary/overburdening regulation and social conservatism. Some republican legislators have modified their view on some socially conservative issue but I have not. I aim to continue, to the best of my abilities, that goal.
