OTHER INFORMATION
QUESTIONNAIRE
RIGHT TO LIFE
Human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection at every stage until natural death.
Strongly Disagree
Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds or grants from federal, state, or local governments.
Strongly Agree
Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?
Under the circumstances protected by Roe v. Wade and its progeny, specifically Planned Parenthood v. Casey.
ECONOMY
It is the government’s responsibility to be sure everyone has a livable income.
Strongly Disagree
Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.
Strongly Agree
Congress should pass a balanced budget amendment to the Constitution.
Strongly Agree
What is the best way to bring down unemployment?
Reduce barriers to entry in entrepreneurship. For example, occupational licensing, self-employment taxes, and needless regulatory and compliance costs.
What role should government play in boosting the economy?
Stay out of the way!
RELIGIOUS LIBERTY
Governments should not discriminate against individuals, organizations or small businesses because of their belief that marriage is only a union of one man and one woman.
Strongly Agree
Governments should define marriage as between one man and one woman; no other definition of marriage should be legalized or supported with taxpayer or public funds.
Strongly Disagree
Religious liberty is at risk in the United States and deserves the highest level of protection in the law.
Neutral
HEALTHCARE
It is the government’s responsibility to be sure everyone has health insurance.
Strongly Disagree
How would you promote healthcare coverage that is adequate, affordable and accessible for all?
Transparency in healthcare pricing, allowing actual competition in the market for healthcare services, rather than the arcane and byzantine insurance scheme.
NATIONAL SECURITY
I am in favor of construction of a wall and other necessary infrastructure on our border that gives complete control over entering and exiting the United States.
Strongly Disagree
I support the use of Sharia law as a basis for legislation and judicial decisions in the United States.
Strongly Disagree
The best way to maintain peace is through a strong military.
Strongly Disagree
State and federal funds should be denied to any public or private entity, including but not limited to sanctuary cities, that are not in compliance with immigration laws.
Strongly Disagree
EDUCATION
Tuition-free public education should be guaranteed through college.
Strongly Disagree
VALUES
Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which permitted our system of limited government.
Strongly Disagree
Parents should be the primary authority in decisions affecting their minor children.
Strongly Agree
The LGBTQ+ political agenda poses a threat to First Amendment freedoms of speech, expression and religious exercise.
Strongly Disagree
I support expanding protections in employment and accommodations based on sexual orientation, gender identity or gender expression.
Neutral
If children are given instruction in sex education in public schools, it should not express a preference for abstinence but should be comprehensive, offering discussions on various types of sexual orientations and behaviors plus all types of contraceptives.
Strongly Agree
What in the nature of mankind caused America’s Founders to carefully define, separate, and limit powers in the Constitution?
Mankind's ability to reason and desire for liberty. Specifically, as influenced by the philosophical developments of the Enlightenment Era, hearkening back to the Classical Western (Greco-Roman) philosophical tradition.
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
Secular Humanism. I spend a lot of time studying philosophy, and I am influenced by many great thinkers. My values are principally defined by the Non-Aggression Principle, namely, the initiation of force or fraud against another person or their property is wrong. This includes both by individuals and by governments. Everyone should be free to do as they please as long as it does no harm to another person or their property.
ABOUT YOU
I voted in these elections:
2012 General Election, 2014 General Election, 2016 Primary, 2016 General Election, 2018 General Election
When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and immigration, which of the following best describes you overall?
Moderate
Please provide publicly available information validating your answer to the previous question.
I am a registered and very active Libertarian, and a dues-paying member of the State and National Libertarian Party. "Moderate" is not a great choice except that we are commonly labeled "fiscally conservative but socially liberal." That is not a very precise definition, but "moderate" seemed a better choice than "no answer," and you left me little choice in the false left-right dichotomy of American politics.
What education or experience qualifies you to hold the office for which you seek election?
I am a practicing attorney who is trained in reading and evaluating law, and this is a position on the legislature. I am also a certified pistol and concealed carry instructor, and I would like to simplify our state gun laws.

OTHER IMPORTANT ISSUES
People should be able to vote without photo identification.
