QUESTIONNAIRE
RIGHT TO LIFE
Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?
Only to save the mother's life with consent of the father (if involved) and medical doctor.
Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).
Strongly Agree
If Roe v. Wade is overturned by the US Supreme Court, how far are you willing to go to roll back North Carolina's statutory abortion law that allows abortion up to 20 weeks?
File, support and vote for a bill to protect the child from time of conception.
I support 'aid in dying' laws which legalize assisted suicide and euthanasia.
Strongly Disagree
Would you support a limitation on chemical abortion that protects women from taking abortion pills without the care and supervision of a qualified physician?
No
I do not support any abortion except to save the mother's life.
RELIGIOUS LIBERTY
Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.
Strongly Disagree
Under what circumstances can government close churches?
Only if they are physically harming people.
What should be the relationship between the church and the state?
The church should be protected from the state. Churches should openly discuss politics and how government affects it's members.
HEALTHCARE
What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D)Tax-payer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be de-funded.
D. we should completely rework the healthcare system using private insurance companies for everyone with premiums for children, elderly and the disabled subsidized by the government. Programs like Association Health Plans, Health Savings Account and Health Reimbursement Accounts and others could help companies provide affordable coverage.
Under what circumstances (if any) should a government, school, or employer be allowed to require vaccinations?
I believe in personal responsibility. I think people should be able to opt out of any vaccines, but must realize they might not be allowed to use some government services. Employers have the right to decide for their business and employees have the right to work elsewhere.
ECONOMY
The government should do more to close the gap between the working class and the wealthy.
Strongly Disagree
The Government should not pick winners and losers. It should regulate interstate and international commerce and national defense and everything else should be states rights.
What changes, if any, should be made to the tax code?
Eliminate the income tax, gas tax and lower the corporate tax. Increase the sales tax rate and add a road use tax based of miles-driven.
Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.
Agree
I do think we should encourage local government to assist with their students' going to community college.
EDUCATION
States should allow parents to use the Opportunity Scholarship Program to fund private school for their children.
Strongly Agree
In what situations does a parent not have the right to know what their child is being taught in public school?
Parents always have the right to know what their children are being taught.
When should parents be restricted from speaking in school board meetings?
Never. They must remain civil and a time limit on speakers can be enforced.
CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY
Police officers should be personally immune from prosecution for conduct consistent with departmental policy (qualified immunity) while on duty.
Strongly Agree
I support redirecting funds from police departments to mental health and community programs.
Strongly Disagree
We can and should fund both.
2ND AMENDMENT
What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?
No new ones. There are already thousand of gun laws on the books. We need to consolidate and or remove some and enforce the others.
Victims of gun violence should be able to sue firearms dealers and manufacturers.
Strongly Disagree
It's the person not the gun that does harm. Only a defective product suit should be allowed to be filed against a manufacture and a dealer should only be allowed to be sued if he breaks the law.
OTHER IMPORTANT ISSUES
Would you support legislation that prohibits biological boys from competing on girls sports teams?
Yes
ABOUT YOU
What do you think is the general purpose of government?
To provide an orderly society were people can live their lives without fear for their safety and be able to enjoy the fruits of their labor. The Federal government should regulate Interstate commerce, international commerce and national defense. States should insure voting integrity, control taxation, intrastate commerce, education, law enforcement and all other areas.
When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?
Very Conservative
Please provide publicly available information, including interviews and media reports, validating your answer to the previous question (other than your website).
Newspaper articles, news reports, interviews, TV shows legislation filed and legislation passed.
Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized in either civil or criminal court for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.
No
What else would you like voters to know about you, including your legislative priorities?
I'm most passionate about improving access to health services for all North Carolinas, especially mental health services and ensuring people addicted to opioids can get needed treatment. My other areas of focus: fixing the involuntary commitment legal process and the foster care system, changing the scope of medical practice and the Certificate of Need (CON) laws to make healthcare services more affordable, and items key to our economic prosperity: strengthening our education (especially making our community colleges more affordable and available), improving our transportation infrastructure, and supporting farmers and the agribusiness sector.
VALUES
Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which is necessary for our system of limited government.
Strongly Agree
I support adding gender identity as a specially protected class in non-discrimination laws.
Strongly Disagree
I agree with Critical Race Theory (CRT) which asserts that the institutions in the United States are fundamentally racist.
Strongly Disagree
I think we should be teaching Critical thinking skills so young people will know how to discern fact vs opinion and what is truth.
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
I am a born again Christian who believes the Bible as the inerrant word of God. I believe: that there is a Heaven and Hell; God wants everyone to go to Heaven, but loves us so much that he will allow us through our free will to go to Hell. I am a member and Elder at Crossroads Baptist Church in Lillington NC.
ELECTIONS AND VOTING
People should be able to vote without photo identification.
Strongly Disagree
What laws would you propose to change present voting practices?
Do away with early voting, require voter ID and only allow absentee ballots with prior approval. Make election day a national Holiday using an existing one like Columbus Day. Business's should not have to pay for another holiday.
EQUALITY
Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?
No. The vast majority of Americans are not racist, and most people just want to go about their lives in peace.
ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT
Which comes closest to your view? A) Stricter environmental laws and regulations cost too many jobs and hurt the economy. B) Stricter environmental laws and regulations are worth the cost.
A. We should smartly move toward cleaner everything: water, air and energy generation are important, and to achieve that goal our environmental policies should be balanced and incremental with appropriate consideration for coast and economic impact, keeping least cost in mind.
