OTHER INFORMATION

QUESTIONNAIRE

RIGHT TO LIFE

Human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection at every stage until natural death.

Strongly Agree

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds or grants from federal, state, or local governments.

Strongly Agree

Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?

I personally don't believe that there are any circumstances that justify nor allow for the killing of an innocent child.

ECONOMY

It is the government’s responsibility to be sure everyone has a livable income.

Strongly Disagree

Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.

Strongly Agree

Congress should pass a balanced budget amendment to the Constitution.

Strongly Agree

What is the best way to bring down unemployment?

In my opinion, the best way to bring down unemployment is create a climate that is business and people friendly. We need to deal with those policies and practices that prevent businesses from expanding and creating jobs. High taxes, a complex tax code and extreme insurance premiums do not help to produce jobs.

What role should government play in boosting the economy?

The government needs to reduce it's current role in the economy to only that where it prevents criminal activity. It should allow for a free-market and not pick winners or losers by subsidizing or penalizing certain industries. When the government makes room for the free market then consumers have the power and the economy thrives.

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

Governments should not discriminate against individuals, organizations or small businesses because of their belief that marriage is only a union of one man and one woman.

Strongly Agree

Governments should define marriage as between one man and one woman; no other definition of marriage should be legalized or supported with taxpayer or public funds.

Strongly Agree

Religious liberty is at risk in the United States and deserves the highest level of protection in the law.

Strongly Agree

HEALTHCARE

It is the government’s responsibility to be sure everyone has health insurance.

Strongly Disagree

How would you promote healthcare coverage that is adequate, affordable and accessible for all?

The best way to promote healthcare coverage is to reduce government regulation, increase transparency and provide for more open competition in the healthcare and health insurance industries. When the balance of power lies with the consumer the result is a more affordable and/or accessible product or service.

NATIONAL SECURITY

I am in favor of construction of a wall and other necessary infrastructure on our border that gives complete control over entering and exiting the United States.

Strongly Agree

I support the use of Sharia law as a basis for legislation and judicial decisions in the United States.

Strongly Disagree

The best way to maintain peace is through a strong military.

Strongly Agree

State and federal funds should be denied to any public or private entity, including but not limited to sanctuary cities, that are not in compliance with immigration laws.

Strongly Agree

EDUCATION

Tuition-free public education should be guaranteed through college.

Strongly Disagree

VALUES

Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which permitted our system of limited government.

Strongly Agree

Parents should be the primary authority in decisions affecting their minor children.

Strongly Agree

The LGBTQ+ political agenda poses a threat to First Amendment freedoms of speech, expression and religious exercise.

Strongly Agree

I support expanding protections in employment and accommodations based on sexual orientation, gender identity or gender expression.

Strongly Disagree

If children are given instruction in sex education in public schools, it should not express a preference for abstinence but should be comprehensive, offering discussions on various types of sexual orientations and behaviors plus all types of contraceptives.

Strongly Disagree

What in the nature of mankind caused America’s Founders to carefully define, separate, and limit powers in the Constitution?

The Founding Fathers understood that the nature of man is inherently corrupt not inherently good. They personally witnessed the effects of power on natural man, i.e. King George of England, and saw that it only produced tyranny and oppression towards those who were subjugated.

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I am a born-again Christian with a Biblical worldview. I am guided by the tenets in the Bible and endeavor to daily practice the truths found therein, especially those in the New Testament that are written directly to those who believe in Jesus Christ.

ABOUT YOU

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and immigration, which of the following best describes you overall?

Conservative

Please provide publicly available information validating your answer to the previous question.

You can find more information on my website EdithCarlin.com, my Facebook, Instagram & Twitter @Carlin4Senate. I also have my personal Facebook page Edith Carlin.

What education or experience qualifies you to hold the office for which you seek election?

I was raised in a family business and understand how difficult it is for small business owners, who employ more than half of Louisiana workers, to keep their doors open and how government regulations impact their success. I graduated from LSU in 1987 with a degree in engineering and have worked in almost all the sectors of the energy industry. I have many years of experience solving problems, establishing budgets, implementing schedules and managing other people's money. In addition, I'm a licensed and ordained minister with 17 years of pastoral ministry in a local church with my husband. I have walked with people through life's most difficult challenges. I believe that my problem solving skills, Christian character and leadership experience make me just the right person to help turn the state of Louisiana around.

Is there anything else you would like voters to know about you?

I will endeavor, to the best of ability and by the grace of God, to always do what is right for the people of this state. I will strive to walk worthy of the Lord and exhibit behavior that is befitting of an elected official. I believe that nothing is impossible with God and that Louisiana's best days are yet to come!
