OTHER INFORMATION

QUESTIONNAIRE

RIGHT TO LIFE

Human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection at every stage until natural death.

Strongly Agree

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds or grants from federal, state, or local governments.

Strongly Agree

I support the Born Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, which requires health care providers to provide life-saving treatment for infants who survive an attempted abortion.

Strongly Agree

Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?

To save the life of the mother.

ECONOMY

It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has a livable income.

Disagree

Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.

Strongly Agree

What government spending would you reduce in order to balance the budget?

Freeze state employee salaries, including the legislature. Also, freeze hiring new state employees. I believe you have to start with prioritizing what is most important. At the top of my priorities is preserving funding for our most vulnerable citizens, those that cannot take care of themselves. After that, we have to look at each program and area of the budget. Each department should plan to reduce their budgets by 1-3%.

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

Governments should not discriminate against individuals, organizations or small businesses because of their belief that marriage is only a union of one man and one woman.

Agree

Governments should define marriage as between one man and one woman; no other definition of marriage should be legalized or supported with taxpayer or public funds.

Agree

Religious liberty is at risk in the United States and deserves the highest level of protection in the law.

Strongly Agree

I promise to protect the freedom of Christians to share the Gospel and to practice Biblical principles.

Yes

What does "separation of church and state" mean to you?

These words are not found anywhere in our Declaration of Independence or the Constitution. The First Amendment says, "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion or prohibiting the free exercise thereof." The Founders wanted to avoid a state-run church. They did not want the government to interfere with the way they practiced their religion. It does NOT mean freedom FROM religion. It simply means the government shall not mandate a state religion or regulate the acting out of one's faith.

HEALTHCARE

It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has health insurance.

Disagree

How would you promote healthcare coverage that is adequate, affordable and accessible for all?

1) Passed a bill to end surprise billing and double digit increases in the individual insurance market, saving Minnesotans millions of dollars 2) Allow more competition in the insurance market place. We passed a law in 2017-18 allowing this. 3)Oppose single payer or public option. The estimates in MN is that the taxpayer would be on the hook for $110 million just in start up costs and millions more in on-going operating costs. 4)Continue to support laws that allows small businesses and self-employed people to for associations to qualify for group insurance, like the law we passed in 2017 allowing farmers to do this. 5) Eliminate the 3.5% MNSURE tax the 2% sick tax. 6) Allow people to pay cash for their prescriptions when the cash price is less that the insurance price.

NATIONAL SECURITY

The best way to maintain peace is through a strong military.

Agree

IMMIGRATION

I am in favor of construction of a wall and other necessary infrastructure on our border that gives complete control over entering and exiting the United States.

Agree

State and federal funds should be denied to any public or private entity, including but not limited to sanctuary cities, that are not in compliance with immigration laws.

Agree

Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?

This is really a federal issue. Authorities should enforce the laws we have on the books. We are a country of immigrants, but people should come here legally.

EDUCATION

Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.

Strongly Disagree

VALUES

Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which is necessary for our system of limited government.

Agree

I support adding sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression as protected classes in non-discrimination laws.

Disagree

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I am a follower of Jesus Christ and believe the Bible is the infallible word of God. God is a God of love and justice. He provided a way for mankind to come to Him in relationship through His Son, Jesus Christ. The Bible guides me and shows me God's standard and how I measure up to it.

ABOUT YOU

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and immigration, which of the following best describes you overall?

Conservative

Please provide publicly available information validating your answer to the previous question.

I believe the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution are the foundations for our system of government and should therefore be the foundation for current and future law. The emphasis of personal freedom and rights in our founding documents have made America a place that people from all over the world desire to come to. America has flaws and an imperfect history like any other country. But I do not know of another country that offers more hope for a better life. I believe our economic system of capitalism allows for a person to become what they work to become, providing more economic opportunity than any other economic system. Capitalism has not only made our country prosperous, but it has done the same for for other countries. It has lifted more people out of poverty than any other system.

What education or experience qualifies you to hold the office for which you seek election?

As a former small business owner, I understand that government does not create jobs, but rather can create an environment that either encourages economic growth or squelches it. I know you can't spend more than you take in. Aa a mom, I understand the challenges of raising a family; Balancing the family budget, finding the educational opportunities that best serve the individual child, and balancing work and family. My experience in the legislature has grown me as a person. Not only have I learned a great deal about state government and what does and does not work, I have learned to work collaboratively with colleagues from across the aisle, as well as stakeholders on any given topic. In the 4 years that it took to get all the funding for the clean up of a hazardous waste it in Andover, I worked with city, county and the MN Pollution Control Agency as well as concerned citizens and industry experts. I also worked with colleagues on both sides of the aisle in both bodies.

Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.

NO

Is there anything else you would like voters to know about you?

Did not answer

JUDICIAL PHILOSOPHY

I support the use of Sharia law as a basis for legislation and judicial decisions in the United States.

Strongly Disagree

CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY

Mandatory minimum sentencing should be required and enforced for violent crimes.

Agree

2ND AMENDMENT

Should teachers be allowed to carry guns at school?

Did not answer

What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?

I had 2 bills: 1) One bill would strengthen the penalty from a gross misdemeanor to a felony for anyone charged with providing a firearm to a prohibited person. 2) The other bill would require a person, who, according to current law, was required to turn over their firearm(s) when they were found in a judicial hearing to be a danger to themselves or others, to have a follow up hearing within 10 days of said ruling, to assure the firearms were indeed turned over to a third party

OTHER IMPORTANT ISSUES

People should be able to vote without photo identification.

Disagree

I support the legalization of recreational marijuana.

Disagree

The Electoral College should be abolished.

Strongly Disagree

In priority order, what three areas of legislation do you propose to author or sponsor if elected?

1) Repeal the tax on Social Security for our seniors 2) We will be facing a $6 billion budget deficit. We should freeze state employee salaries, including the legislature's. 3) Family law reform: equal shared parenting

Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?
