QUESTIONNAIRE
RIGHT TO LIFE
Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).
Strongly Agree
I strongly agree. Taxpayer dollars should never be used to fund abortion providers. Organizations like Planned Parenthood perform services that many Americans morally oppose, and citizens should not be forced to subsidize. As Speaker, I passed legislation that made performing an abortion a felony, removing all abortion providers from receiving state funds by making their services illegal. I will continue to protect the unborn as governor.
Under what circumstances should an elective abortion be allowed?
Elective abortion should not be allowed. I believe life begins at conception, and that unborn children deserve protection under the law. We must also expand support for mothers, adoption services, and crisis pregnancy resources so that women are never left without options. As Speaker of the Oklahoma House, we banned abortions starting at conception with House Bill 4327 in 2022.
Human life deserves legal protection from conception until natural death.
Strongly Agree
Human life is a gift from God and deserves protection from starting at conception. The most vulnerable among us, especially the unborn, deserve a voice, and it is the responsibility of the government to defend them. Science affirms that life begins at conception, and our laws should reflect that truth. At the same time, the government has a duty to uphold justice and protect public safety. The death penalty, when applied lawfully and with due process, remains a tool for the most serious crimes.
The lives of human embryos created through artificial methods ought to be protected from purposeful destruction.
Strongly Agree
Embryos created through artificial means are still human life and deserve protection. Scientific advancement must never come at the cost of human dignity.
The Comstock Act, which bans interstate transportation of abortion-inducing drugs, should be enforced.
Strongly Agree
Federal law, including the Comstock Act, should be enforced. The illegal distribution of abortion-inducing drugs undermines state laws and puts women at risk. We must uphold the rule of law and protect both mothers and unborn children.
ECONOMY
What is your position on the minimum wage?
The minimum wage should be determined by the free market, not mandated by the federal government. Artificially raising wages can harm small businesses, reduce job opportunities, and increase inflation.
Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.
Strongly Agree
Free enterprise and private property are the backbone of prosperity. When individuals are free to innovate, invest, and build, the entire economy benefits. The government's role should be limited to creating a fair playing field, not picking winners and losers.
List your top 3-5 priorities to eliminate government waste.
I will eliminate duplicative and unnecessary government programs, boards, and agencies and reduce bureaucratic overhead and administrative bloat. I will also audit state agencies regularly for efficiency and accountability to strengthen transparency and oversight of taxpayer spending.
RELIGIOUS LIBERTY
What does "separation of church and state" mean to you?
“Separation of church and state is not found in the Constitution. Our country was built on Christian values and individuals must be free to live out their beliefs and religion without government interference.
Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.
Strongly Disagree
No individual or business should be forced to violate their sincerely held religious beliefs. Protecting religious freedom is essential to a free society.
HEALTHCARE
What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D) Taxpayer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be defunded.
C, Medicaid and Medicare should remain, but additional government expansion is unnecessary. We must also institute working requirements for those in the Medicaid system who are able to work. Able bodied individuals and non U.S. citizens should not be eligible for Medicaid and Medicare. Healthcare works best when driven by competition, innovation, and patient choice—not government control.
The government should keep a database of people with various ongoing medical illnesses to assess the economic burden of treatment.
Strongly Disagree
A government database tracking personal medical conditions raises serious privacy concerns and risks abuse. Healthcare decisions should remain between patients and their doctors. Such databases can ultimately lead to a single payor system, rationed healthcare and death panels deciding if healthcare is viable for the elderly.
NATIONAL SECURITY
The Chinese Communist Party poses serious military, cyber security, intellectual property, and global economic threats to the United States.
Strongly Agree
The CCP poses a serious threat to the United States. It demands strong leadership and decisive action. During my time as Speaker, I took this threat seriously by passing legislation to ban foreign land ownership in Oklahoma and banned the Chinese Communist Party influence in higher education, especially through staffing and institutional ties. I will continue to stand firm against the influence of the Chinese Communist Party and fight to protect our state and country.
Is the United States' relationship with Israel important, and if so why?
Yes, the relationship with Israel is critically important. Supporting Israel strengthens American security and promotes stability in the Middle East. The people of Israel are God’s chosen people and I will always stand with them.
IMMIGRATION
I support the existence of sanctuary cities to protect undocumented persons.
Strongly Disagree
Sanctuary cities undermine the rule of law and create unsafe conditions for American citizens. That's why I passed some of the toughest immigration laws in the country banning sanctuary cities as Speaker of the Oklahoma House of Representatives. Immigration laws must be enforced to protect our citizens and our country.
EDUCATION
I support eliminating the U.S. Department of Education and giving control back to states and communities.
Strongly Agree
Decisions about our children’s education should be made by parents, teachers, and local leaders, not federal bureaucrats in Washington, D.C. As Speaker, I passed Oklahoma’s first-ever universal school choice program, making our state a national leader in education freedom. I believe parents know what is best for their children, not the federal government.
Foreign governments should be prohibited from funding American education.
Strongly Agree
Foreign influence in the American education system poses risks to national security and academic integrity and exposes our children to possible indoctrination. It must be prohibited.
VALUES
Government should recognize and support the fundamental right and essential duty of parents to direct their child's health and educational well-being.
Strongly Agree
Parents have the fundamental right and responsibility to guide their children’s upbringing, education, and healthcare decisions. That's why as Speaker of the Oklahoma House, we passed a ban on schools and colleges requiring COVID19 vaccine mandates with Senate Bill 658 in 2021. We also passed House Bill 2335, which prohibited state agencies and entities from mandating vaccines or vaccine passports while requiring accommodations for medical, religious, and philosophical exemptions.
Attempts to physically or socially transition a child to the opposite sex constitute child abuse.
Strongly Agree
Children must be protected from irreversible decisions that can have lifelong consequences. That is why I banned sex change surgeries for minors in Oklahoma as Speaker of the Oklahoma House of Representatives.
Marriage is a God-ordained, sacred and legal union of one man and one woman. No government has the authority to alter this definition.
Strongly Agree
Marriage is a sacred institution between one man and one woman.
I support the expansion of gambling in my state.
Neutral
I believe the issue of expanding gambling in our state should be approached with careful consideration. In Oklahoma, this conversation must also include our tribal partners, who play a central role in gaming and have contributed significantly to economic growth, job creation, and support for public services. Any discussion should respect existing tribal agreements and ensure that decisions are made collaboratively, with strong safeguards in place.
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
I am a strong Christian and I believe that our rights come from God, not government, and that biblical truth should guide how we lead and make decisions because it is the inherent word of God. My faith is the foundation of my life, my family, and my service to the people of Oklahoma. As a husband of more than three decades and a father, I understand how important it is to protect and strengthen the family. Strong families are the backbone of strong communities. In my role as Speaker, my faith has guided me to stand firm on principle, even when it is not easy. Whether defending the unborn, protecting religious liberty, or standing up for what is right, I believe leadership requires both conviction and character.
ELECTIONS AND VOTING
People should be able to vote without photo identification.
Strongly Disagree
Election integrity is essential to maintaining public trust in our democratic process, and requiring a valid photo ID is a simple, common-sense safeguard to ensure that every vote is protected. During my time as Speaker, I stopped legislation that would have allowed illegal immigrants to obtain driver’s licenses in Oklahoma. Providing state-issued identification to individuals who are not lawfully present undermines the integrity of our systems and creates additional vulnerabilities.
EQUALITY
Reparations should be given to people on the basis of race.
Strongly Disagree
I strongly disagree with reparations based on race. Our nation was founded on the principle that all men are created equal, and our laws should reflect equal treatment for every individual, not divide Americans based on race.
Biological males should not be allowed to participate in women's sports or occupy biological women's spaces whether it be bathrooms, locker rooms, sorority houses, women's shelters, or prison.
Strongly Agree
I strongly believe we must protect fairness, safety, and opportunity for women and girls, and my record reflects that commitment. As Speaker of the Oklahoma House, I passed legislation to protect women’s sports by ensuring that biological males cannot compete against female athletes and banned sex change surgeries on minors in Oklahoma. Children should be protected from irreversible medical decisions that carry lifelong consequences. Biological differences matter.
ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT
Man-made climate change is a global threat and requires urgent political action.
Strongly Disagree
I believe we should be good stewards of our environment, but I do not agree with the idea that man-made climate change requires government mandates that harm our economy and energy independence. As Speaker, I ended state green energy subsidies. Oklahoma is an energy state, and our oil and natural gas industry has been a cornerstone of our economy. I also support innovation in energy technology, including nuclear power and improvements in efficiency, so long as they are market-driven.
What do you believe is the most reliable energy source that will supply the growing demand for electricity?
Reliable energy must include a strong mix of natural gas, oil, and nuclear power. These sources provide consistent, affordable, and dependable energy while supporting economic growth, job creation, and national security.
ABOUT YOU
When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?
Very Conservative
I am the proven conservative and my record backs that up. As the longest-serving Speaker of the House in Oklahoma history, I have led with a clear commitment to faith, family, freedom, and the rule of law. Under my leadership, we passed the largest tax cut in state history, banned sex change surgeries on minors, banned foreign land ownership, and passed some of the toughest illegal immigration laws in the country. My approach to leadership is simple. Govern like a Republican.
Have you ever been penalized for sexual misconduct in either civil or criminal court? If so, please explain.
No
Have you ever been convicted of a felony? If so, please explain.
No
CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY
What should be the goal of the criminal justice system?
The primary goal is to protect public safety, ensure justice for victims, and hold offenders accountable. Rehabilitation is important, but accountability and deterrence must come first.
Government has a responsibility to protect children from sexual exploitation during online activities.
Strongly Agree
The government must protect children from online exploitation through strong enforcement and modern safeguards.
Sharia law should not be accepted or incorporated in any form within the legal framework of the United States.
Strongly Agree
I believe the United States must operate under one legal system—the Constitution and the rule of law rooted in our nation’s founding principles. During my time as Speaker, I banned foreign laws, including Sharia law, to protect our state from outside influences that conflict with our laws and values.
2ND AMENDMENT
What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?
The Second Amendment guarantees the right to bear arms. Efforts should focus on addressing mental health and targeting criminal misuse of firearms—not limiting constitutional rights. As Speaker, I not only protected our Second Amendment rights but I restored them by co-authoring Constitutional Carry because citizens have the right to bear arms. I have received the A+ Lifetime Rating from the Oklahoma Second Amendment Association and an A Rating from the National Rifle Association.
