What changes, if any, should be made to the tax code?
I would advocate for changes to the tax code that prioritizes lower taxes, simplifies regulations, and supports economic growth. The current tax code is overcomplicated and deters businesses from moving to Louisiana which ultimately has a negative impact on the prosperity of Louisiana citizens.

What government spending would you reduce in order to balance the budget?
There are areas that you could reduce spending across the board but it will take the combined willpower of the legislature and governor to get it done. As of now, only higher ed and healthcare are available to cut as much of the budget is protected in the constitution.

First and foremost, I would propose that Louisiana be required to conduct a yearly audit of our elections in order to continuously build on the progress of election integrity and transparency. Additionally I believe we need to pick a voting machine that allows for an auditable paper-trail. Louisiana is one of the top states when it comes to election security and integrity - I want to see us as the best.

At a time when there is intense scrutiny on the work product, services, and vendors of the Elections Division of the Department of State, I believe that I am uniquely situated and qualified to serve as our next Secretary of State. Despite the many different opinions as to what our next voting systems might look like, everyone agrees that we need to provide two central things, real election security and an auditable paper trail to ensure election integrity. I intend to rely heavily on my time as a member of the Legislative Audit Advisory Council and my many years of experience on the House Select Committee on Homeland Security. No other candidate in this race has more time and experience in dealing with pre-planning for emergencies, crisis management during and after emergencies, and after-action reviews to determine the effectiveness of our planning.
