QUESTIONNAIRE

RIGHT TO LIFE

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).

Strongly Agree

Taxpayer dollars should never go to abortion. As the Majority Floor Leader in the Oklahoma House of Representatives, I was proud to support legislation that outlawed surgical abortions in the state of Oklahoma.

Under what circumstances should an elective abortion be allowed?

I believe that life begins at conception and I oppose elective abortion. It is vital we protect innocent life. I also believe that we should encourage more support for mothers and resources like crisis pregnancy centers which make sure mothers are never alone.

Human life deserves legal protection from conception until natural death.

Strongly Agree

I strongly agree! I also took action on this issue, passing legislation in Oklahoma to outlaw surgical abortion. Protecting life is central to my time in public service and will continue to be.

The lives of human embryos created through artificial methods ought to be protected from purposeful destruction.

Strongly Agree

Those embryos are still a human life worthy of protection.

The Comstock Act, which bans interstate transportation of abortion-inducing drugs, should be enforced.

Strongly Agree

As Attorney General I will enforce the law, and I will go after these out of state abortion groups that ship these drugs into Oklahoma. This is about protecting mothers and unborn children.

ECONOMY

What is your position on the minimum wage?

As a businessman, I am a big believer in the free market. The minimum wage should be determined by the free market, not government compulsion.

Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.

Strongly Agree

Free enterprise and the right to private property are what provides incentive for people to innovate, create, and grow. Other than ensuring everyone is playing by the same rules, government should avoid interfering in the process.

List your top 3-5 priorities to eliminate government waste.

In the legislature, I was one of the leaders in creating the Legislative Office of Fiscal Transparency (LOFT) which works to hold state agencies accountable for how they spend taxpayer dollars. As Attorney General, my priorities to eliminate waste will be making sure that each agency is spending our tax dollars responsibly. We must hold those accountable who don't.

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

What does "separation of church and state" mean to you?

Our nation was founded on Christian values and that is undeniable. The phrase originates from a letter written by Thomas Jefferson and was meant to assure the Danbury Baptists that their faith wouldn't be interfered with by government. It was not written as an attempt to keep faith and Christian values out of government.

Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.

Strongly Disagree

No one should ever be forced to violate their Faith. Period!

HEALTHCARE

What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D) Taxpayer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be defunded.

C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary.

The government should keep a database of people with various ongoing medical illnesses to assess the economic burden of treatment.

Strongly Disagree

This raises massive red flags when it comes to privacy, could be used as a steppingstone to a single payor system, and opens the door to dangerous healthcare rationing.

NATIONAL SECURITY

The Chinese Communist Party poses serious military, cyber security, intellectual property, and global economic threats to the United States.

Strongly Agree

I completely agree with this. As Attorney General, I will fight to combat CCP influence in Oklahoma, especially when it comes to Chinese ownership of Oklahoma land.

Is the United States' relationship with Israel important, and if so why?

I believe it is important. I support America's partnership with the nation of Israel both practically and through the lens of scripture and God's promises to the Jewish people.

IMMIGRATION

I support the existence of sanctuary cities to protect undocumented persons.

Strongly Disagree

Sanctuary cities are completely opposed to the rule of law. In the legislature, I fought for tough legislation making illegal immigration a state crime. As Attorney General, I will work to enforce immigration law and will fight sanctuary cities.

EDUCATION

I support eliminating the U.S. Department of Education and giving control back to states and communities.

Strongly Agree

The best people to make decisions about the education of Oklahoma's children are Oklahomans. Parents and teachers should be in charge, not Washington DC. During my time in the legislature, I was proud to support universal school choice in our state to empower parents.

Foreign governments should be prohibited from funding American education.

Strongly Agree

I am completely opposed to foreign governments influencing the minds of America's next generation in our education system.

VALUES

Government should recognize and support the fundamental right and essential duty of parents to direct their child's health and educational well-being.

Strongly Agree

Parents have the fundamental right to raise their children. In the legislature, I was a proud advocate of parental rights, school choice and health freedom.

Attempts to physically or socially transition a child to the opposite sex constitute child abuse.

Strongly Agree

Children are innocent and should be treated as such. While in the legislature, I was proud to support a ban on transgender surgeries on minors.

Marriage is a God-ordained, sacred and legal union of one man and one woman. No government has the authority to alter this definition.

Strongly Agree

Marriage is ordained by God and is between one man and one woman.

I support the expansion of gambling in my state.

Neutral

Expanding gambling in our state is a serious discussion and should include our tribal partners who have contributed so much to this state. Any future discussions should also come with guardrails in place.

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

Faith represents the cornerstone of my life. My personal relationship with Jesus Christ influences every aspect of my life including my marriage to my amazing wife Kristen, being a father to my 3 kids, running my businesses, and serving in public office. My faith gives me the foundation for how I serve in public life with the basic belief that our freedoms come from God, not government. That means it isn't for government to take away our freedoms; it is there to help protect them.

ELECTIONS AND VOTING

People should be able to vote without photo identification.

Strongly Disagree

Photo ID is commonsense when it comes to ensuring election integrity. Everyone wins when our elections are secure.

EQUALITY

Reparations should be given to people on the basis of race.

Strongly Disagree

I am opposed to reparations based on race.

Biological males should not be allowed to participate in women's sports or occupy biological women's spaces whether it be bathrooms, locker rooms, sorority houses, women's shelters, or prison.

Strongly Agree

I proudly supported legislation to protect women's sports while in the Oklahoma House. This is commonsense legislation that protects women and acknowledges the reality of the differences between men and women.

ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT

Man-made climate change is a global threat and requires urgent political action.

Strongly Disagree

We should be good stewards of the environment that God gave us. However, the idea of man-made climate change that requires massive government intrusion and green energy mandates is unacceptable. We can be good stewards of the environment while also embracing reliable forms of energy like oil and natural gas and not mandating forms of green energy.

What do you believe is the most reliable energy source that will supply the growing demand for electricity?

Oil and natural gas are indispensable which we know being in a state like Oklahoma. Meeting the increasing energy demands will require oil, natural gas, and nuclear.

ABOUT YOU

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?

Very Conservative

I have spent my time in elected office fighting for our conservative values. Protecting the unborn, defending your 2nd Amendment rights, protecting women's sports, and cutting taxes are just some of the conservative values I have fought for.

Have you ever been penalized for sexual misconduct in either civil or criminal court? If so, please explain.

No

Have you ever been convicted of a felony? If so, please explain.

No

CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY

What should be the goal of the criminal justice system?

The goal of the criminal justice system should be to punish law breakers, protect the innocent, and ensure everyone is treated fairly under the law.

Government has a responsibility to protect children from sexual exploitation during online activities.

Strongly Agree

Protecting children from online predators should be a top priority of our law enforcement and will be something I take seriously as Attorney General.

Sharia law should not be accepted or incorporated in any form within the legal framework of the United States.

Strongly Agree

We operate under one legal system, the Constitution and the rule of law. None other!

2ND AMENDMENT

What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?

I am proud to have been the lead sponsor of constitutional carry in the state of Oklahoma. I will always defend our 2nd Amendment rights. I am proud to have received the Defender of Freedom Award from the NRA and to be endorsed by the Oklahoma 2nd Amendment Association (OK2A) in this race. Addressing mental health is a key aspect of protecting public safety, but that is different from punishing law-abiding gun owners.
