QUESTIONNAIRE
RIGHT TO LIFE
Human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection at every stage until natural death.
Strongly Agree
Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds or grants from federal, state, or local governments.
Strongly Agree
Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?
to save the life of the mother.
RELIGIOUS LIBERTY
Governments should not discriminate against individuals, organizations or small businesses because of their belief that marriage is only a union of one man and one woman.
Strongly Agree
Governments should define marriage as between one man and one woman; no other definition of marriage should be legalized or supported with taxpayer or public funds.
Strongly Agree
Religious liberty is at risk in the United States and deserves the highest level of protection in the law.
Strongly Agree
NATIONAL SECURITY
I am in favor of construction of a wall and other necessary infrastructure on our border that gives complete control over entering and exiting the United States.
Strongly Agree
I support the use of Sharia law as a basis for legislation and judicial decisions in the United States.
Strongly Disagree
The best way to maintain peace is through a strong military.
Agree
State and federal funds should be denied to any public or private entity, including but not limited to sanctuary cities, that are not in compliance with immigration laws.
Agree
HEALTHCARE
It is the government’s responsibility to be sure everyone has health insurance.
Strongly Disagree
How would you promote healthcare coverage that is adequate, affordable and accessible for all?
Medicaid was intended for those who cannot afford private health insurance. Instead it has become an across the board free healthcare program. We must respect the monies it takes to run Medicaid and require accountability in its application process, its payment of services and its provider contract selection. These are all avenues of possible corruption. To allow legislative auditor oversight in all of these avenues is a very low expectation and we must have state leadership that allows for that rather than blocking that oversight.
ECONOMY
It is the government’s responsibility to be sure everyone has a livable income.
Strongly Disagree
Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.
Strongly Agree
Congress should pass a balanced budget amendment to the Constitution.
Agree
What is the best way to bring down unemployment?
I believe one way that benefits my district greatly, and I believe the best way for the entire state, is to encourage more high school students to enroll in dual enrollment with our community colleges. They have the opportunity to leave high school with certifications giving them job ready skills to become immediately employable. I am baffled as to why we do not have more students, especially from rural high schools, given this opportunity. This gives them income to support themselves or a family and fuels the local economy while giving the state a work force to change the economy statewide. We need them economically independent and paying into the tax base for the state, a win-win.
What role should government play in boosting the economy?
Government's role needs to be to get out of the way and let business and the market grow. Remove onerous regulations and layers of bureaucratic process from opening a business and from running a business. Remove unnecessary licensing requirements from those areas especially that don't affect the public safety. There must be new eyes reviewing the paperwork required, the fees and the time required to comply with government regulations and as a legislature we must be willing to act boldly in repairing prior bad ideas.
EDUCATION
Tuition-free public education should be guaranteed through college.
Strongly Disagree
CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY
I support the death penalty.
Agree
Mandatory minimum sentencing should be required and enforced for violent crimes.
Agree
2ND AMENDMENT
More restrictive gun control is needed to protect public safety.
Strongly Disagree
OTHER IMPORTANT ISSUES
People should be able to vote without photo identification.
Disagree
Gambling should be limited to existing forms and should not be de-regulated or expanded.
Agree
ABOUT YOU
I voted in these elections:
2012 Primary, 2012 General Election, 2014 Primary, 2014 General Election, 2016 Primary, 2016 General Election, 2018 Primary, 2018 General Election
When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and immigration, which of the following best describes you overall?
Conservative
Please provide publicly available information validating your answer to the previous question.
My votes on the many bills affecting the state economy are on public record, as are the many bills involving social matters within our state. I have gone on record speaking on the Senate floor against the ERA and the false perception in its portrayal as presented in our legislature this year. That visible stand is just one example of the many stands I've taken in my role as a Conservative in what has been a Senate with few Conservative members.
What education or experience qualifies you to hold the office for which you seek election?
My education was limited, but has been ongoing informally throughout my life in my reading and level of curiosity. My time as a preschool owner enlightened me in business and government frustrations. My time in supplementary education enlightened me in the frustration of parents with their children's education and the shortcomings of our educational system. My time as a farmer has given me the opportunity to see the effort to sustain a livelihood through the land. My life as a widow has allowed me to suffer with the woes of survival benefits amid retirement. My time as a CASA opened my mind and my heart to the needs of children without parents who care and what our role should be in filling that gap. There are many life experiences that have touched my ability to serve and feel the needs of the people I serve, many of them were painful but God had a purpose that was unknown during that suffering.

Is there anything else you would like voters to know about you?
I am dedicated to making my District and Louisiana a better home for all of us, and we can only do that by all working together.
VALUES
Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which permitted our system of limited government.
Strongly Agree
Parents should be the primary authority in decisions affecting their minor children.
Strongly Agree
The LGBTQ+ political agenda poses a threat to First Amendment freedoms of speech, expression and religious exercise.
Strongly Agree
I support expanding protections in employment and accommodations based on sexual orientation, gender identity or gender expression.
Disagree
If children are given instruction in sex education in public schools, it should not express a preference for abstinence but should be comprehensive, offering discussions on various types of sexual orientations and behaviors plus all types of contraceptives.
Strongly Disagree
What in the nature of mankind caused America’s Founders to carefully define, separate, and limit powers in the Constitution?
Mankind's nature of greed, hunger for power and ego; our Founders respected the weakness of humanity to reach for that power over their fellow man and thankfully protected our nation with our Constitution. Those leaders who succumb to that greed have worked in the years since to weaken the Constitution and strengthen their positions. It is our job to protect the will of the Founders in the true intent of the Constitution.
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
I believe in God, His Son Jesus as my Savior and the Holy Spirit as the indwelling on this Earth. I trust Jesus to guide and direct me as I seek his will with the life he's given me here to do the work pleasing to him, that is my prayer. I respect the different paths that get us to the place of finding Christ and the peace he provides, praying for those who are without his presence in their lives and asking for direction on how to handle those with different belief systems as I walk in faith with him.
