Bringing down unemployment shouldn't be the goal. Automation is coming. We need a society that isn't build around people being forced into slave labor by the threat of death in order to be exploited by the people at the top. The best way to solve the actual problem, poverty, is through workplace democracy and universal basic income.

"The economy" doesn't exist and what actually needs to change is our economic model. The economy today serves to maximize short term profit to corporate share holders.
