OTHER IMPORTANT ISSUES
Congress should repeal the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare).
Strongly Agree
iVoterGuide Notes:
Brinson, a physician and [now former] president of the Christian Coalition of Alabama, also supports a complete repeal of Obamacare. Absent that, he said that Congress needs to "allow market-based insurance plans to be sold across state lines," Brinson also believes in the establishment of "regional care organizations" which can assist in developing the "health care manpower" needed to take care of indigent patients.
Human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection at every stage until natural death.
Strongly Agree
iVoterGuide Notes:
Dr. Randy Brinson addresses the crowd at the 2013 Pro Life Legislative Days in Montgomery Alabama March 5, 2013. “In the legislature, I’ve worked to protect churches, their tax exempt status. I've worked on pro-life legislation,” Brinson said.
I am in favor of construction of a wall and other necessary infrastructure on our border that gives complete control over entering and exiting the United States.
Strongly Agree
iVoterGuide Notes:
"We have to understand while we need to stop illegal immigration but we have to do it sensibly and create policies with these countries where these children are coming from."
The U.S. military should wait for militant Islamic groups to directly threaten our national security on our shores, rather than eradicate them now wherever they may be worldwide.
Strongly Disagree
The United States must maintain a nuclear arsenal that is safe, reliable, modern and numerically superior to those of potential adversaries.
Strongly Agree
I support legislation such as the First Amendment Defense Act (FADA) that would prohibit discrimination against individuals, organizations and small businesses because of their belief that marriage is only a union of one man and one woman.
Strongly Agree
The federal government should establish Common Core as a nationwide academic standard for high school graduation.
Strongly Disagree
I oppose the resettlement of Syrian refugees into the U.S. without proper vetting.
Strongly Agree
Current regulations on domestic oil exploration and drilling are more restrictive than are necessary.
Strongly Agree
It is the government’s responsibility to be sure everyone has health care and a livable income.
Strongly Disagree
Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which permitted our system of limited government.
Strongly Agree
More restrictive gun control laws are needed to protect public safety.
Strongly Disagree
The founders established pure democracy in the Constitution because they believed that it is the best form of government to ensure the safety and equitable treatment of all citizens.
Strongly Disagree
Free enterprise and the right to private property turn mankind's natural self-interest into the most productive economic system there is.
Strongly Agree
Governments should pay to develop wind and solar energy solutions until they are economically feasible.
Disagree
Religious liberty is at risk in the United States.
Strongly Agree
iVoterGuide Notes:
In 2014, Brinson opposed Amendment 1: "Sharia law is not going to be implemented in Alabama, it just isn’t,” Brinson said. “This is a tremendous waste of effort… My frustration is that people — good people — get behind something like this just because they want to score political points with the Christian community. But it’s redundant — you don’t need to amend the constitution to address these issues. I just don’t think they thought through this particular thing.” Brinson requested members of Christian Coalition of Alabama to sign a petition that said, "While State Amendment 1 on this November’s ballot may not appear to be harmful, the law would jeopardize adoptions, marriages, and religious liberty in our state."
Governments should define marriage as between one man and one woman; no other definition of marriage should be legalized or supported with taxpayer or public funds.
Strongly Agree
People should be able to vote without photo identification.
Strongly Disagree
The United States should help defend Israel from attack by its enemies.
Strongly Agree
Planned Parenthood should not receive funds from federal, state, or local governments.
Strongly Agree
Marijuana should be legalized and regulated like tobacco and alcohol.
Strongly Disagree
Islamic law (Sharia) does not pose a threat to the United States and its Constitution.
Strongly Disagree

Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?
I don't believe we should allow abortion unless the life of the mother is at stake. As a physician, I can not think of a single incidence in which I have heard or be involved in such as case in the last 30 years. That said, we need to work harder to help teach biblical values in the consequences of sexual intimacy, work harder to instill the values of self worth and self esteem that focuses on their spiritual values rather than self esteem based in acceptance and personal affection from relationships rather than our spiritual gifts, and finally, work to improve and increase the numbers of adoptions and mentoring with children that are born out of wedlock. We cannot sustain our society if we continue to suffer from increasing percentage of births from out of wedlock relationships. The incidence of abuse and domestic violence is directly related to the rate of out of wedlock births and non marital partners living together. We must work to make marriage sacred.
What in the nature of mankind caused America’s Founders to carefully define, separate, and limit powers in the Constitution?
America's founders worked to make sure our Constitution protected individuals from the overreach of the Federal government and brilliantly limited the powers of the Federal government to specific enumerated powers with those not specified left to state and local governments. This wisely protected individuals from potential oppressive interventions from a large centralized government
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
I accepted Jesus Christ as my personal savior at the age of 9 while in Sunday School at First Southern Methodist Church in Jacksonville, Fl. Later in high school, I served as music leader at a mission church and then fill in pastor. At the age of 17, I was a licensed lay minister in the Methodist church and was listed in Whos Who in Religion. Later, in medical school, I served as a youth pastor in Augusta, Ga and then during the summer of medical school in Valdosta, Ga. After medical school and residency, I joined Taylor Road Baptist Church and have been a member for the past 30 years. In 2003, my wife Pam and I formed Redeem the Vote, which many of the members of this survey were part of our voter outreach, with Jim Caviezel. Since 2006, I served as Chairman of the Christian Coalition of Alabama, until I announced my run for this office.
Considering all issues (social, economic, national security, etc.), which of these best describes you?
Very Conservative
Please defend your answer to the previous question by referencing your publicly available track record.
I served as head of the Christian Coalition of Alabama, which I fought Indian gambling, common core standards, and payday lending, that preyed on the poor. I supported rights of home school families and Bible instruction in public schools. I fought against Students First liberal interpretation of charter schools, and I fought against abortionists coming to Alabama without hospital privileges. I also supported school sponsored prayer and Christian organizations and their ability to use public facilities. I was on the board of Fellowship of Christian Athletes and the board of the University of Mobile, a Baptist university.

Additional comment from candidate:
I think it is important for the Christian activists such as the groups aligned for this voter guide need support a devout Christian with a long track record of supporting Christian ideals. No candidate other than me can say that they are a lay minister, international businessman that has started 4 companies, trade negotiator, and health care policy expert and physician, that has an actual plan to repeal and replace ObamaCare that will pass the Senate. We cannot just say no, we have to govern, and if we don't deliver on repealing ObamaCare (which I have a plan to do) and grow jobs, which I have done for 30 years, then we will lose the majorities in Congress. I have over 16 billion dollars in potential business for Alabama business, no one can say that. No one can say that they consult with over 6 world leaders around the globe, other than myself. These are the skill sets that our next US Senator must have to help move us in the right direction.
