QUESTIONNAIRE
RIGHT TO LIFE
Human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection at every stage until natural death.
Strongly Agree
Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds or grants from federal, state, or local governments.
Strongly Agree
Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?
Abortion, the taking of a life prior to natural birth, should not be allowed under any circumstances. Medical professionals should always attempt to save the lives of both the mother and the unborn baby.
ECONOMY
It is the government’s responsibility to be sure everyone has a livable income.
Strongly Disagree
Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.
Strongly Agree
Congress should pass a balanced budget amendment to the Constitution.
Strongly Agree
Socialism provides a robust foundation for a stable economy.
Strongly Disagree
What is the best way to bring down unemployment?
The government has a responsibility to provide a legal framework, essential infrastructure, and a monetary system that promotes economic stability and prosperity. Unfortunately, the government at all levels has incentivized many of our people to trade their skills, self-esteem, and willingness to seek employment for a government wage or "entitlement". Instead, the government should remove burdensome business regulations, incentivize those who can work to find work, and lessen the tax burden of employers and employees alike. Finally, the federal government must restrict spending and implement responsible measures to reduce our national debt and continual deficit spending.
What role should government play in boosting the economy?
As a candidate for Transportation Commissioner in Mississippi, I am an advocate for identifying and securing a long-term, sustainable revenue source for the enhancement of transportation infrastructure to promote public safety and our state's economic competitiveness. Should a person build a new house and never put a new roof on it? If any conservative leader would propose such an idea, voters would question his/her sanity. Why then should billions of dollars invested in transportation infrastructure be allowed to crumble because of the lack of resources to maintain it? As Commissioner, I will ensure that future investments are wisely spent on projects that address public safety and economic competitiveness issues, not political paybacks. Addressing this critical need in Mississippi will boost its economy and provide safe roads for our families to travel.
RELIGIOUS LIBERTY
Governments should not discriminate against individuals, organizations or business owners because of their deeply held religious beliefs.
Strongly Agree
Governments should not penalize those who define marriage as between one man and one woman; no other definition of marriage should be legalized or supported with taxpayer or public funds.
Strongly Agree
Religious liberty is at risk in the United States and deserves the highest level of protection in the law.
Strongly Agree
HEALTHCARE
It is the government’s responsibility to be sure everyone has health insurance.
Strongly Disagree
How would you promote healthcare coverage that is adequate, affordable and accessible for all?
No Answer
NATIONAL SECURITY
I am in favor of construction of a wall and other necessary infrastructure on our border that gives complete control over entering and exiting the United States.
Strongly Agree
I support sanctuary cities.
Strongly Disagree
Islamic law (Sharia) should take precedence over national and state laws where there are Islamic majority communities in the U. S.
Strongly Disagree
The best way to maintain peace is through a strong military.
Strongly Agree
EDUCATION
Tuition-free public education should be guaranteed through college.
Strongly Disagree
VALUES
Biblical values established a framework of morality which permitted our system of limited government.
Strongly Agree
Any teaching to children on sex education in public schools must include all contraceptive methods, and should not show preference to abstinence.
Strongly Disagree
People should be allowed to use public restrooms, showers, and changing rooms based on "gender identity."
Strongly Disagree
Free speech is under attack on public university and college campuses.
Strongly Agree
Parents should be the primary authority in decisions affecting their minor children.
Strongly Agree
What in the nature of mankind caused America’s Founders to carefully define, separate, and limit powers in the Constitution?
America's Founding Fathers understood the sinful, fallen nature of humans; therefore, they instituted Constitutional safeguards to limit absolute executive powers. The Constitutional limitations of governmental powers include the separation of power between the three branches of government. Unfortunately, the legislative branch has become increasingly willing to surrender its powers to the executive branch and the judicial branch.
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
I strongly belief that Jesus Christ, the one and only begotten Son of God, lived a perfect life and chose to die a sinner's death in order to offer all men and women eternal life and more abundant life through His sacrifice. All human beings, being sinners, must accept this fact and surrender to the leadership of Jesus Christ. No person can obtain God's forgiveness outside of the acceptance of Christ's sacrifice on his behalf. I strive to seek the wisdom and leadership of the Holy Spirit in each decision that I make, both professional and personal.
ABOUT YOU
When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and immigration, which of the following best describes you overall?
Conservative
Please provide publicly available information validating your answer to the previous question.
Over the past eleven years with the Mississippi Secretary of State's Office, I worked earnestly to acquire public support for the implementation of voter identification, to enhance constituent services while maintaining low filing fees for businesses, and to ensure that charities and businesses upheld the public trust by spending resources to further charitable purposes and securing legally required trust accounts. My record as a public servant shows my unwavering belief that the government serves the people, not the other way around. Not only do I expect the citizens to hold me accountable, I know that my ultimate judge is God Himself. I strive to make decisions daily to bring honor to the people of the State of Mississippi and to God.
What education or experience qualifies you to hold the office for which you seek election?
For the past eleven years, I have worked along Secretary of State Delbert Hosemann, first as his North Mississippi Service Coordinator and most recently as his Assistant Secretary of State. During our tenure, we successfully implemented voter identification laws in Mississippi, modernized all filing systems, and protected consumers from fraud in dozens of cases. During my time at the Secretary of State's Office, I attended and completed the University of Oklahoma Economic Development Institute, which allowed me to gain knowledge about current economic development strategies and to build relationships with developers throughout the country.
