QUESTIONNAIRE
RIGHT TO LIFE
Human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection at every stage until natural death.
Strongly Agree
Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds or grants from federal, state, or local governments.
Strongly Agree
Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?
To prevent the death of a pregnant woman or to prevent a serious risk of the substantial and irreversible impairment of a major bodily function of the pregnant woman.
ECONOMY
It is the government’s responsibility to be sure everyone has a livable income.
Strongly Disagree
Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.
Strongly Agree
Congress should pass a balanced budget amendment to the Constitution.
Agree
Socialism provides a robust foundation for a stable economy.
Strongly Disagree
What is the best way to bring down unemployment?
Encouraging an atmosphere of positive economic development and investment by fiscal policies that control government spending and reduce and eliminate taxes. Specific to the office of Attorney General in Mississippi, the regular practice of hiring outside counsel to sue all manner of business and industry is negatively affecting the ability to attract capital investment and economic opportunities and must come to an end.
What role should government play in boosting the economy?
Government's role in boosting the economy should be limited. The main responsibility of government is sustain the free market by eliminating unreasonable regulations, encouraging competition, developing and providing a conservative fiscal environment, adequate infrastructure, and public safety.
RELIGIOUS LIBERTY
Governments should not discriminate against individuals, organizations or business owners because of their deeply held religious beliefs.
Strongly Agree
Governments should not penalize those who define marriage as between one man and one woman; no other definition of marriage should be legalized or supported with taxpayer or public funds.
Strongly Agree
Religious liberty is at risk in the United States and deserves the highest level of protection in the law.
Strongly Agree
HEALTHCARE
It is the government’s responsibility to be sure everyone has health insurance.
Strongly Disagree
How would you promote healthcare coverage that is adequate, affordable and accessible for all?
Individuals should be free to make their own health insurance decisions, rather than the federal government imposing a one-size-fits-all framework like Obamacare. Before the implementation of Obamacare, Mississippi maintained an open, competitive healthcare exchange that connected insurance providers and consumers with insurance options that were right for them based on price and product.
NATIONAL SECURITY
I am in favor of construction of a wall and other necessary infrastructure on our border that gives complete control over entering and exiting the United States.
Strongly Agree
I support sanctuary cities.
Strongly Disagree
Islamic law (Sharia) should take precedence over national and state laws where there are Islamic majority communities in the U. S.
Strongly Disagree
The best way to maintain peace is through a strong military.
Strongly Agree
EDUCATION
Tuition-free public education should be guaranteed through college.
Strongly Disagree
VALUES
Biblical values established a framework of morality which permitted our system of limited government.
Strongly Agree
Any teaching to children on sex education in public schools must include all contraceptive methods, and should not show preference to abstinence.
Strongly Disagree
People should be allowed to use public restrooms, showers, and changing rooms based on "gender identity."
Strongly Disagree
Free speech is under attack on public university and college campuses.
Strongly Agree
Parents should be the primary authority in decisions affecting their minor children.
Strongly Agree
What in the nature of mankind caused America’s Founders to carefully define, separate, and limit powers in the Constitution?
The sinful nature of man.
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
The Apostles’ Creed I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, and born of the virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried; he descended into hell. The third day he rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of God the Father Almighty. From there he will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.
ABOUT YOU
When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and immigration, which of the following best describes you overall?
Very Conservative
Please provide publicly available information validating your answer to the previous question.
I have been a state representative since 2004. I have a clear voting record validating my answer to the previous question. I have a record in support of life, the Second Amendment, limited government, and religious freedoms.
What education or experience qualifies you to hold the office for which you seek election?
For the last 16 years, I have served in the Mississippi House of Representatives and have established a clear conservative record for voters to evaluate. As Chairman of the House Judiciary A Committee for the last eight years, I have led on reforming the overreaches of the Mississippi Attorney General's Office. I have been a practicing attorney for more than three decades and have years of intensive litigation experience trying cases in state and federal courts. In addition, I am the only Republican candidate for Attorney General with experience as a prosecutor and a judge.
