OTHER INFORMATION

QUESTIONNAIRE

RIGHT TO LIFE

Human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection at every stage until natural death.

Strongly Agree

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds or grants from federal, state, or local governments.

Strongly Agree

Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?

I am opposed to abortion and it should only be considered in the case of a life-threatening medical event of the mother.

ECONOMY

It is the government’s responsibility to be sure everyone has a livable income.

Strongly Disagree

Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.

Strongly Agree

Congress should pass a balanced budget amendment to the Constitution.

Strongly Agree

Socialism provides a robust foundation for a stable economy.

Strongly Disagree

What is the best way to bring down unemployment?

The best way to bring down unemployment is to increase the workforce participation rate and that can be achieved by bringing more vocational workforce training and instruction into high schools for the large portion of students who choose not to attend college after high school. For these students, they deserve to have good opportunities and the ability to seek a good-paying job, and with more job training during high school, they can be better prepared to get a good job.

What role should government play in boosting the economy?

I'm a conservative and believe in free market principles. Government should focus on creating an environment for the private sector to grow, and that means removing obstacles like unnecessary, burdensome regulations. Other ways to create an environment for economic growth for the private sector to flourish include addressing the critical needs we have in Mississippi like roads and bridges and educational improvements, including workforce vocational training in high schools so students who do not attend college can have opportunities to get a good-paying job after high school.

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

Governments should not discriminate against individuals, organizations or business owners because of their deeply held religious beliefs.

Strongly Agree

Governments should not penalize those who define marriage as between one man and one woman; no other definition of marriage should be legalized or supported with taxpayer or public funds.

Strongly Agree

iVoterGuide Notes:

In 2015, as Chief Justice of the Mississippi Supreme Court, Waller voted to affirm Obergefell v. Hodges in a homosexual divorce lawsuit.

Religious liberty is at risk in the United States and deserves the highest level of protection in the law.

Strongly Agree

HEALTHCARE

It is the government’s responsibility to be sure everyone has health insurance.

Strongly Disagree

How would you promote healthcare coverage that is adequate, affordable and accessible for all?

To make health care coverage more affordable and accessible, we need to promote free enterprise principles of competition in health care, and also reform Medicaid in our state.

NATIONAL SECURITY

I am in favor of construction of a wall and other necessary infrastructure on our border that gives complete control over entering and exiting the United States.

Strongly Agree

I support sanctuary cities.

Strongly Disagree

Islamic law (Sharia) should take precedence over national and state laws where there are Islamic majority communities in the U. S.

Strongly Disagree

The best way to maintain peace is through a strong military.

Strongly Agree

EDUCATION

Tuition-free public education should be guaranteed through college.

Strongly Disagree

VALUES

Biblical values established a framework of morality which permitted our system of limited government.

Strongly Agree

Any teaching to children on sex education in public schools must include all contraceptive methods, and should not show preference to abstinence.

Strongly Disagree

People should be allowed to use public restrooms, showers, and changing rooms based on "gender identity."

Strongly Disagree

Free speech is under attack on public university and college campuses.

Strongly Agree

Parents should be the primary authority in decisions affecting their minor children.

Strongly Agree

What in the nature of mankind caused America’s Founders to carefully define, separate, and limit powers in the Constitution?

To protect the God-given individual liberties and inalienable rights to the citizens of our country, the Founders included protections of those rights and liberties, as well as a separation of powers in the branches of government with checks and balances to ensure that one institution or one person can't dominate another or have too much control over our personal freedoms.

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I am a born again Christian and I accepted Jesus Christ at age 11, and have been a member of First Baptist Church of Jackson, Mississippi since birth. I am a Deacon and previously served as Chairman of the Deacons of that church. I believe the scripture is the inerrant word of God.
