QUESTIONNAIRE
RIGHT TO LIFE
Human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection at every stage until natural death.
Strongly Agree
Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds or grants from federal, state, or local governments.
Strongly Agree
Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?
I believe that all human life has value and that life begins at conception. Having said that, I respect the law and have worked to minimize and discourage abortion through other options such as adoption, help for unwed mothers, and assistance for crisis pregnancy centers. I do not believe that abortion is a good choice under any circumstance.
ECONOMY
It is the government’s responsibility to be sure everyone has a livable income.
Disagree
Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.
Strongly Agree
Congress should pass a balanced budget amendment to the Constitution.
Strongly Agree
Socialism provides a robust foundation for a stable economy.
Strongly Disagree
What is the best way to bring down unemployment?
Encourage economic growth through reducing taxes and regulation which leads to job growth. We have been successful with this in Loudoun County. Since taking office on the Board of Supervisors Loudoun's unemployment rate has been reduced to 2.4% well below the national rate of 3.6%
What role should government play in boosting the economy?
The best way for the government to boost the economy is to get out of the way of the private sector. Government should work to reduce the tax burden on businesses (especially small business), reduce regulations and encourage economic growth.
RELIGIOUS LIBERTY
Governments should not discriminate against individuals, organizations or business owners because of their deeply held religious beliefs.
Strongly Agree
Governments should not penalize those who define marriage as between one man and one woman; no other definition of marriage should be legalized or supported with taxpayer or public funds.
Strongly Agree
Religious liberty is at risk in the United States and deserves the highest level of protection in the law.
Strongly Agree
HEALTHCARE
It is the government’s responsibility to be sure everyone has health insurance.
Disagree
How would you promote healthcare coverage that is adequate, affordable and accessible for all?
Health care coverage is a complex issue and there is no one simple answer. Employers should be encouraged through tax incentives to provide adequate health care for their employees. Health Care purchasing pools should be created so that employers can join together to create economies of scale that will lower costs due to pooling their purchasing power. Legislation should be created to allow individual health care savings accounts that do not expire and that individuals can take with them. Health care providers should be allowed to compete across state lines and legal reforms should be put in place to protect the medical profession from unnecessary lawsuits.
NATIONAL SECURITY
I am in favor of construction of a wall and other necessary infrastructure on our border that gives complete control over entering and exiting the United States.
Strongly Agree
I support sanctuary cities.
Strongly Disagree
Islamic law (Sharia) should take precedence over national and state laws where there are Islamic majority communities in the U. S.
Strongly Disagree
The best way to maintain peace is through a strong military.
Strongly Agree
EDUCATION
Tuition-free public education should be guaranteed through college.
Strongly Disagree
VALUES
Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which permitted our system of limited government.
Strongly Agree
Any teaching to children on sex education in public schools must include all contraceptive methods, and should not show preference to abstinence.
Strongly Disagree
People should be allowed to use public restrooms, showers, and changing rooms based on "gender identity."
Strongly Disagree
Free speech is under attack on public university and college campuses.
Strongly Agree
Parents should be the primary authority in decisions affecting their minor children.
Strongly Agree
What in the nature of mankind caused America’s Founders to carefully define, separate, and limit powers in the Constitution?
Mankind is fallen and absolute power corrupts absolutely.
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
I am a devout Christian.
ABOUT YOU
When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and immigration, which of the following best describes you overall?
Conservative
Please provide publicly available information validating your answer to the previous question.
Please visit my Website (www.gearyhiggins.com) and Facebook Page - Geary Higgins for Senate as well as my Board of Supervisors Page (https://www.loudoun.gov/2262/Catoctin-Supervisor-Geary-M-Higgins)
What education or experience qualifies you to hold the office for which you seek election?
My service as a Loudoun County School Board member for four years and my eight years serving the residents of the Catoctin District as their Supervisor makes me uniquely qualified to represent the people of the 13th Senate District. I understand their needs and concerns from neighborhood traffic problems, transportation funding, quality education choices, and the need to preserve the quality of life we enjoy in Loudoun and Prince William counties.

Is there anything else you would like voters to know about you?
I entered public service to do the right thing because I saw a vacuum of leadership in government. I have no personal agenda or desire for power. I only desire to work on behalf of the people I represent to make sure our government is working for our residents and not against them. Geary is the Vice President of Labor Relations for the National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA). He is a member of NECA’s executive committee, treasurer of the Council on Industrial Relations, and an executive committee member and treasurer of the Electrical Training Alliance — the committee responsible for the training of all union journeymen and apprentices in the electrical construction industry. Geary also serves as a trustee for the for the NECA-IBEW Family Medical Health Care Plan. He is a fellow of The Academy of Electrical Contracting.
