QUESTIONNAIRE

RIGHT TO LIFE

Human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection at every stage until natural death.

No Answer

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds or grants from federal, state, or local governments.

No Answer

Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?

No answer

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

Governments should not discriminate against individuals, organizations or small businesses because of their belief that marriage is only a union of one man and one woman.

No Answer

Governments should define marriage as between one man and one woman; no other definition of marriage should be legalized or supported with taxpayer or public funds.

No Answer

Religious liberty is at risk in the United States and deserves the highest level of protection in the law.

No Answer

NATIONAL SECURITY

I am in favor of construction of a wall and other necessary infrastructure on our border that gives complete control over entering and exiting the United States.

No Answer

Islamic law (Sharia) should take precedence over national and state laws where there are Islamic majority communities in the U. S.

No Answer

I support sanctuary cities.

No Answer

The best way to maintain peace is through a strong military.

No Answer

HEALTHCARE

It is the government’s responsibility to be sure everyone has health insurance.

No Answer

How would you promote healthcare coverage that is adequate, affordable and accessible for all?

No answer

ECONOMY

It is the government’s responsibility to be sure everyone has a livable income.

No Answer

Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.

No Answer

The state constitution should limit the growth of spending to the rate of population growth plus the rate of inflation.

No Answer

Congress should pass a balanced budget amendment to the Constitution.

No Answer

What is the best way to bring down unemployment?

A partnership of government and private entities working together. With government introducing higher minimum wage legislation, paid parental leave policies, and affordable healthcare options, families will be better equipped to take the jobs on offer. When families are more secure, they will be better able to take the jobs that suit their skills and circumstances. In addition, government investment in roads and bridges - construction projects and infrastructure - provides jobs. The private sector can be incentivised to invest in human capital and the communities they serve through effective tax policy that encourages investment than saving.

What role should government play in boosting the economy?

No answer

EDUCATION

Tuition-free public education should be guaranteed through college.

No Answer

CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY

I support the death penalty.

No Answer

Mandatory minimum sentencing should be required and enforced for violent crimes.

2ND AMENDMENT

More restrictive gun control is needed to protect public safety.

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and immigration, which of the following best describes you overall?

Liberal

Please provide publicly available information validating your answer to the previous question.

I self-identify as a liberal, as indicated by my endorsements and online profile.

What education or experience qualifies you to hold the office for which you seek election?

The residents of District 64 deserve brave, new leadership that prioritizes the needs of the constituents over the whims of a political party. This past legislative session provided numerous opportunities for such leadership, and on each count the current Representative failed - focusing more on wedge issues that divided us than the pressing concerns of public schools, healthcare, and jobs that I hear from my constituents every time I go block-walking - over 2,000 doors at last count. District 64 - and the Texas Legislature - need a Representative who truly represents the constituents in their district, and focuses on the challenges that face all Texans: strong and robust public schools; affordable healthcare; better roads and bridges; a diversified economy that provides better-paying jobs with good benefits; and a fair and humane immigration system.

Is there anything else you would like voters to know about you?

I moved to this country in 2008 to be with my wonderful wife, Elizabeth. After graduating with my BA from UNT in 2009, we married, bought our first home, and completed our MAs in 2014 and 2015. I became a US citizen in 2015. During my time in the Denton community, I helped register voters through Battleground Texas, advocated for Denton's fracking ban, and cofounded the Denton for Bernie Sanders group My wife and I now have a wonderful daughter, Emma, who lights up our lives.

What in the nature of mankind caused America’s Founders to carefully define, separate, and limit powers in the Constitution?

No answer

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

My father was a Strict Baptist minister from the UK, so I was raised in a Christian home. This upbringing informed my current religious and political viewpoints, based around compassion, humility, and concern for our fellow humans. While I am a Christian, I also accept and understand that faith comes in many different ways and it is not my place to dictate what one should believe - faith is a unique, individual journey that can be shared, but never countermanded.
