Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?

I believe this should be a delicate decision made between a woman and a medical professional.

What should the United States do to help eradicate the threat of radical Islamic terrorism?

The United States should first ensure that the threat is directly impacting our country and our interests. Then, the US should identify opportunities to best neutralize the threat.

What in the nature of mankind caused America’s Founders to carefully define, separate, and limit powers in the Constitution?

I think America's Founders understood the possibility that self interest, control, partisanship, and greed could become a problem. I believe they instituted the separation of powers to ensure that no groups or individuals could ever abuse their power, and could be held accountable in cases of systemic abuse.

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I am a devout Christian. Although I allow my faith to guide me in my personal decision making, I believe in the separation of church and state, and that as much as is possible that we should not impose our personal spiritual beliefs on others. I certainly would not want anyone to impose their beliefs on me.

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and immigration, which of the following best describes you overall?

Moderate

How would you promote healthcare coverage that is adequate, affordable and accessible for all?

The people in the 8th district regardless of partisanship have continually expressed a desire to have adequate, affordable, and accessible health care coverage. To that end, I will introduce and support policies and legislation that drives down the cost of care, and I will promote policies that provide access to coverage that meets these goals.

What role should government play in boosting the economy?

The government should promote economic policies and development initiatives that look towards the future and creates jobs to that end. In order to be globally competitive the government should play a role in boosting the economy by identifying the trends and ensuring that education and industry is prepared for global challenges and changes. We cannot afford to walk backwards in time. Our competitive future and our position in the global community depends on our ability to continue to advance, and we need an educated populace and progressive ideas to move forward and guard against regression.

What changes should be made to the tax code?

We need a tax code that will ensure that the most vulnerable, working class, and middle class Americans aren't overburdened. We need to also ensure that the tax code doesn't provide an unfair advantage to the wealthy.

What is the best way to bring down unemployment?

The best way to bring down unemployment is to understand the causal factors for the unemployment rate. Right now, we have a system that excludes people once they become disillusioned or are no longer registered with unemployment agencies. In order to reduce the number of unemployed, we need to provide education and training to better prepare people for the workforce and invest in business ownership. We must invest in people if we are to see a reduction in unemployment.

How would you guarantee Social Security benefits for future generations?

If we eliminate mass incarceration we could solve our social security issue. According to a 2016 report by the Brennan Center for Justice at NYU School of Law, concluded that 40% of the US prison population – 576,000 people – are behind bars with no compelling public safety reason. Mass incarceration takes would be able-bodied tax payers out of the system, and the public isn't benefitting from these potential revenue sources. Instead, wealthy corporations are lining their pockets to the detriment of our systems that relied on this tax-base to ensure sustainability of the system. If we return taxable jobs to our economy, we will have the resources needed to sustain the social security system.

What education or experience qualifies you to hold the office for which you seek election?

I have been a business owner for nearly 20 years, and I hold a Master of Business Administration degree, and a doctoral degree in Public Policy & Social Change. I am a consultant who has worked with companies and government officials to help craft policy. I have also worked across several sectors in both for profit and non profit corporations, which include General Electric which was one of the most profitable corporation in America at the time I was employed with them. I was also trained at some of the best higher education institutions in the country. My life experiences and struggles have more than equipped me to also understand the struggles that most Americans face. I have been thoroughly equipped and I am ready to lead and represent the interests of the people of the 8th district.

Is there anything else you would like voters to know about you?

More than any credential that I hold, I care about the people and the values that our country has long held dear. I am not beholden to any special interests. The only interest that I will be beholden to are those of the constituents for which I will serve. It would be both an honor and a privilege to fight for the people of the 8th district.
