OTHER IMPORTANT ISSUES

Human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection at every stage until natural death.

Neutral

I am in favor of construction of a wall and other necessary infrastructure on our border that gives complete control over entering and exiting the United States.

Strongly Disagree

Governments should not discriminate against individuals, organizations or small businesses because of their belief that marriage is only a union of one man and one woman.

Agree

Governments should define marriage as between one man and one woman; no other definition of marriage should be legalized or supported with taxpayer or public funds.

It is the government’s responsibility to be sure everyone has a livable income.

Strongly Disagree

It is the government’s responsibility to be sure everyone has health insurance.

Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which permitted our system of limited government.

More restrictive gun control is needed to protect public safety.

Strongly Disagree

Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.

Strongly Agree

Additional regulations are needed to prevent climate change.

Strongly Disagree

Religious liberty is at risk in the United States and deserves the highest level of protection in the law.

The United States should help defend Israel from attack by its enemies.

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive funds from federal, state, or local governments.

Neutral

Congress should pass a balanced budget amendment to the Constitution.

Strongly Agree

People should be allowed to use public restrooms, showers, and changing rooms based on "gender identity."

Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?

I am pro-life and believe that the issue of abortion should not be decided at the federal level as it is now, but instead left to the states to decide. Historically, most criminal matters (including murder) have been decided at the state level, and abortion should be no different. No federal mandate can adequately gauge the interests of 330 million people.

What should the United States do to help eradicate the threat of radical Islamic terrorism?

It must begin with ending foreign interventionism and creating the "blowback" which has been described by our CIA. By constantly toppling secular regimes in Middle Eastern nations, we create power vacuums which allow for radicalization to occur and overtake these Islamic states. Domestically, we must not sacrifice liberties for a false sense of security.

What in the nature of mankind caused America’s Founders to carefully define, separate, and limit powers in the Constitution?

Jefferson, Madison and the other founding fathers derived many of their beliefs embedded in the Constitution and Declaration of Independence from their beliefs in natural law: the idea that we are endowed by our creator with certain inalienable rights. I believe we must return to this model.

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I was raised Catholic and that spiritual belief system has shaped my own beliefs that all people deserve to be treated equally and with respect.

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and immigration, which of the following best describes you overall?

Moderate

Please provide publicly available information validating your answer to the previous question.

I am a Libertarian. My beliefs are outlined at DaleKerns.com.

How would you promote healthcare coverage that is adequate, affordable and accessible for all?

I would lessen regulations and hurdles to innovation in the healthcare marketplace so that better ideas and procedures can reach those who need them most. I would also work to end our third-party payer system so that individuals are not reliant on employers and insurance companies in finding the care they need.

What role should government play in boosting the economy?

Government should stay out of the way and allow individuals to shape the economy. While well-intentioned, government too often creates more problems than solutions.

What changes should be made to the tax code?

I would abolish the IRS and the federal income tax so that our system is more simplified. I much prefer a federal tax on consumption which could take its place so that we could avoid bureaucracy and paperwork associated with the current code.

What is the best way to bring down unemployment?

We must reduce the barriers which government has placed in the way of employers, like taxes and regulations. Our government has made it far too costly to hire, and as long as it remains this way, companies will be selective in hiring.

How would you guarantee Social Security benefits for future generations?

Government must stop looting the Social Security fund for other projects. We can address Social Security by reforming for future generations but keeping it the same for those already on the receiving end. Younger people should have more options in how they can invest their Social Security dollars.

What education or experience qualifies you to hold the office for which you seek election?

I'm a different kind of candidate. I've felt the struggles that Pennsylvanians across the Commonwealth have had. I, like other Pennsylvanians am tired of career politicians.
