OTHER INFORMATION

QUESTIONNAIRE

RIGHT TO LIFE

Human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection at every stage until natural death.

Strongly Agree

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds or grants from federal, state, or local governments.

Strongly Agree

Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?

I believe abortion to be the taking of a life and a personal choice that should be made by the father and mother of a child with consideration to the health and safety of all parties. The quality of life of the infant in utero and mother should be considered and comprehensive counseling should be required for this procedure to move forward. There can be good faith beliefs on both sides of this issue and too many circumstances to draw a clear line on this issue, but a distinction can be made that tax payers should not fund medical procedures that violate their firmly held beliefs.

ECONOMY

It is the government’s responsibility to be sure everyone has a livable income.

Strongly Disagree

Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.

Strongly Agree

The state constitution should limit the growth of spending to the rate of population growth plus the rate of inflation.

Strongly Agree

Congress should pass a balanced budget amendment to the Constitution.

Strongly Agree

What is the best way to bring down unemployment?

This is too complicated for the time allocated. As the owner of multiple businesses in my short 32 years, I know that unemployment is a choice that people make. If you want to know how to increase workplace participation, eliminate the option for people to live as welfare dependents. If you want to know how to encourage hiring, deregulate employers, especially small businesses, so that the free market can fairly value labor. If you want to know how to increase wages and make employers compete for labor, stop subsidizing large corporate cronies and political donors and shift focus to growing small businesses and funding for new innovative small business development. I could go on for days, but none of the answers are big government should do XYZ.

What role should government play in boosting the economy?

Government has a role to play in this, but not by passing more laws. Government should repeal laws, deregulate, reduce taxation, and end cronyism and corporate subsidies. Companies that are "too big to fail" should be forced to innovate or be replaced as the market deems nessesary. Small businesses should be allowed to compete on a fair playing field for more money in local economies and a trickle up economic plan that employs our local families, provides for higher wages and better benefits due to market competition. Robust earnings provide for more retail and commercial demand which provides for adequate sales tax revenues for cities and states and feeds the federal level with income tax revenues and a stable economic future instead of a house of cards one blow from total collapse.

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

Governments should not discriminate against individuals, organizations or small businesses because of their belief that marriage is only a union of one man and one woman.

Agree

Governments should define marriage as between one man and one woman; no other definition of marriage should be legalized or supported with taxpayer or public funds.

Strongly Disagree

Religious liberty is at risk in the United States and deserves the highest level of protection in the law.

Strongly Agree

HEALTHCARE

It is the government’s responsibility to be sure everyone has health insurance.

Strongly Disagree

How would you promote healthcare coverage that is adequate, affordable and accessible for all?

From a position in government, I wouldn't. It's not the government's job to provide insurance, subsidize insurance companies, meddle in the free exchange of money and services between any goods or service provider (doctor) and their customer (patient). Insurance companies, and government are the reason average Americans cannot afford to pay for medical procedures out of pocket anymore. I vehemently oppose mandates like the ACA that mandate, fine, or extort people into paying for a product they do not want or need in order to provide it to another against their will. The only part government should play in healthcare is the safety net for the most vulnerable in our society.

NATIONAL SECURITY

I am in favor of construction of a wall and other necessary infrastructure on our border that gives complete control over entering and exiting the United States.

Disagree

Islamic law (Sharia) should take precedence over national and state laws where there are Islamic majority communities in the U. S.

Strongly Disagree

I support sanctuary cities.

Strongly Disagree

The best way to maintain peace is through a strong military.

Disagree

EDUCATION

Tuition-free public education should be guaranteed through college.

Strongly Disagree

VALUES

Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which permitted our system of limited government.

Neutral

Any teaching to children on sex education in public schools must include all contraceptive methods, and should not show preference to abstinence.

Agree

People should be allowed to use public restrooms, showers, and changing rooms based on "gender identity."

Neutral

Parents should be the primary authority in decisions affecting their minor children.

Strongly Agree

What in the nature of mankind caused America’s Founders to carefully define, separate, and limit powers in the Constitution?

Sinful nature. Separate and limited power defined by the Constitution in a representative government protects the God given free will of the individual.

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I am a member of Unity Missionary Baptist Church. I was actually encouraged to run for office by my pastor. I hold the Golden Rule as a legislative priority. Do unto others as you would have them do unto you is a very simple moral compass. To live a life of service to others is the greatest privilege I can ask for.

ABOUT YOU

I voted in these primaries and general elections:

2010 General Election, 2012 General Election, 2014 General Election, 2016 General Election

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and immigration, which of the following best describes you overall?

Somewhat Conservative

Please provide publicly available information validating your answer to the previous question.

As a Libertarian, I am fiscally conservative and socially tolerant. I reduced tax rates 2 years in a row as an elected City Council Woman, balanced the budget, reduced the size and scope of government, and deregulated locally. I volunteer personally, in coordination with my business and with my church serving the social causes I care about. What others do in private is none of my business unless it hurts me, others, or we are forced to pay for it. I believe that the founding fathers outlined freedoms of speech, and belief for a reason and government was to stay neutral.

What education or experience qualifies you to hold the office for which you seek election?

First hand experience in my Senate District, honesty, integrity, and a record of doing the right thing for the people in my community qualify me to hold the office I seek. Years of dedicated and voluntary service to my community and three adorable children who seek to inherit the future we are building for them qualify me for the office. There are plenty of lawyers and career politicians in Austin, and none of them have planned for the future or solved the real problems facing Texans. We have unfunded pension obligations, constant property tax increases, insufficient infrastructure, and bloated wasteful spending in public education and across the entire budget. I will plan for the future, because it is my children's future and they will inherit the consequences of what we do in November.

E-mail address and phone number for voters to reach you:

Is there anything else you would like voters to know about you?

I'm a mother of three amazing children, and wife to a dedicated first responder. We own a pet care business that we started in our laundry room almost 10 years ago on sweat and prayers. I have always been a servant to my neighbors, and have a record of cleaning up government and reducing their impact on our lives. My record speaks for itself, and I want to take my work to Austin this November.

I support the death penalty.
