Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?
Should be allowed by whom? If a woman feels she needs an abortion then she should be able to get one. I strongly feel that contraceptives are widely available and aborthion should not be used as contraception. This is why we need places like Planned Parenthood to educate our people. I believe a woman should be able to do what she thinks best for her own body.
What should the United States do to help eradicate the threat of radical Islamic terrorism?
First I think Americans should educate themselves in not only Islam but other types of religion as well. Too many Americans think just because a person practices Islam they must be a terroist. That is not true. I think what the US Military is too focused on is aiding and assisting in other countries so that those countries can regain control. I also think leaning hard on border countries such as Pakistan and Iran to stop letting terroist use their countries to hide in and regroup is very important.
What in the nature of mankind caused America’s Founders to carefully define, separate, and limit powers in the Constitution?
Mankind if left to it's own devices will eventually succomb to the dark side of it's nature and fall victim to greed, power, ego, and personal gain. Checks and balances were written into our Constitution so this would not happen. I believe in the present political climate, the checks and balances have been ignored and avarice has taken over.
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
I am a believer in a higher power. I think different religions are simply different conduits to the same higher power. I am very spiritual, not very religious. I pray, I pay attention. I think all men and woman have the knowlege to connect to God if they would tap into it. I believe the Golden Rule says it best, Treat Others as You Would Wish to be Treated.
When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and immigration, which of the following best describes you overall?
Moderate
Please provide publicly available information validating your answer to the previous question.
Economicaly and financially I am more conservative. It is simply impossible to give everyone everything. Those of us who work and pay taxes cannot continue to pay and support those who don't. When speaking of human and civil rights I am fairly liberal. I believe all people should be treated with dignity and respect regardless of their financial, racial, sexual, or religious situation or preferences. I am more middle of the road politically. I think solutions need to come from a place of common sense, reality, and shared thinking and listening. We cannot shut down good solutions because they are from the opposite side of the aisle.
How would you promote healthcare coverage that is adequate, affordable and accessible for all?
I lean more toward Medicare for All. I believe everyone should have to pay something. Perhaps a 10% of your income for health care? I have no idea where we would get the money for universal heath care, although we are the richest nation on earth. Priorities are skewed. I am talking and will continue to talk with physicians, health care providers, patients young and old to come up with a better solution that what we have now.
What role should government play in boosting the economy?
The govenrment can make or break our economy. I think the current tariffs are not doing us any favors. Make it easier for the small business community and farming community to have success.
What changes should be made to the tax code?
Personally the latest tax bill did nothing adventageous for me or anyone I know. I have always been for simplifing the tax code. I would love to see a straight 10% tax for eveyone but I know that will never happen. It has been suggested and has never seen any traction. Just imagine how many IRS people would be out of a job. Lawyers and accountants in general as well. We need to close loop holes.
What is the best way to bring down unemployment?
Support small businesses and bring in needed manufacturing opportunities.
How would you guarantee Social Security benefits for future generations?
N/a
What education or experience qualifies you to hold the office for which you seek election?
Our Constitution and entire government is based on the premise that we are a country run by the people it govenrs. Anyone who is willing and able and has the fortitude should be able to seek office. I am not an attorney, and I see that as a refreshing change. I am not stupid. I am observant and have been going through the "School of Life" for several years. I have owned businesses, raised crops and animals, payed taxes, loans, mortgages, college tuition for the children I have raised, dealt with my own elderly in their final years, and lived with the pros and cons of our political system and local bureaucracy all my life. I think changes are due.
