Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?

To save the life of the mother.

What should the United States do to help eradicate the threat of radical Islamic terrorism?

Quit turning a blind eye to the threat. Stringently inforce all laws in America, and use whatever means necessary to destroy groups that pose a threat to Americans throughout the world. Isolate nations that harbor or support terrorists.

What in the nature of mankind caused America’s Founders to carefully define, separate, and limit powers in the Constitution?

They recognized the sinful nature of mankind. They also understood that our freedoms are granted to us by God, not government.

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

God is the creator of all things great and small, visible and invisible. We are all God's children and we are all sinners. His son Jesus Christ was sent among us to enlighten us to the glory of God and to show us the path to forgiveness of our sins. There is no other way to heaven.

How would you promote healthcare coverage that is adequate, affordable and accessible for all?

Finish dismantling Obamacare. Allow carriers to offer low-cost basic plans with optional, not mandated riders. Allow health insurance to be purchased across state lines. Allow small business to join together to purchase health insurance without expensive federal health care mandates.

What role should government play in boosting the economy?

Continue to repeal needless regulations. Maintain consistent, predictable pro-business tax policies. Seek fair and balanced international trade agreements. Quit picking winners and losers, and simply let free enterprise work.

What changes should be made to the tax code?

The tax reduction act earlier this year was a good start. A second round of cuts aimed more at middle income Americans would be in order next year.

What education or experience qualifies you to hold the office for which you seek election?

My experience in the Kansas Legislature as Speaker and as Chair of the Committee on Federal and State Affairs is invaluable. I dealt regularly with issues like abortion and same sex marriage as well as healthcare, taxation, education, infrastructure and more. There will be very little learning curve should I be elected to the U.S. House of Representatives.

Is there anything else you would like voters to know about you?

My wife, Lena, and I both grew up in southeast Kansas. We met in class at Pittsburg State University in 1969. We were soon engaged, and were married in 1971. We have two grown children and five grandchildren. I am a candidate because the democrats in Washington have targeted the 2nd U.S. House district of Kansas. I am horrified at the specter of Nancy Pelosi in the Speaker’s chair again. If that occurs, all of the progress of the last year and a half will be reversed - followed by the impeachment of the President without constitutional justification. We must not let that happen.
