What in the nature of mankind caused America’s Founders to carefully define, separate, and limit powers in the Constitution?

I strongly believe in the separation of powers (for States and the Federal Government). While the Federal Government has its place, it is important for States to retain its rights to establish laws that protect and serve the people of an individual State.

How would you promote healthcare coverage that is adequate, affordable and accessible for all?

As a RN, I clearly understand the important role health care is for everyone. A health nation is a strong nation. From that perspective would continue to work toward ensuring health care is available in all areas (to include rural areas). Health care is very costly and I will work toward decreasing the overall cost of health care premiums for everyone. As our society continues to age, I will continue to be an advocate for providing coverage for preexisting medical conditions (to include individuals that were born with preexisting medical conditions).

What role should government play in boosting the economy?

I believe having a strong (but fair) tax policy will promote more businesses (both small and large) to thrive and grow. Therefore, the tax policies of our nation must be fair and one that will promote a strong economy.

What education or experience qualifies you to hold the office for which you seek election?

My work experiences in the healthcare field (primarily in drug treatment and mental health) have equipped me with the knowledge and skill set to address pressing (and emerging) health care concerns that are affecting our country. I believe as a criminologist (PhD) (and a retired Federal Law-Enforcement officer), I have unique and specialized experiences that would be helpful in establishing policies that would be helpful in addressing issues related to decreasing crime, protecting our boarders, and exploring approaches to terrorism for our nation.

Is there anything else you would like voters to know about you?

I am entering this race to serve the citizens of the 2nd Congressional District of Kansas, and I believe I can make a difference for our great state. My vision and mission statement for this campaign is to keep all neighborhoods safe and secure (KANSAS). I learned over the years that values are not something you gain from experience, but values are something you bring to an experience. I learned that every time you make a choice, you display your character. My life is a display of my personal, social and professional choices. As indicated by Albert Camus, my life is a sum of all my choices. Therefore, I am running because I firmly believe the 2nd Congressional District of Kansas deserves a representative who will be held personally responsible for limiting the impact of government on our choices and freedoms, defending our great constitution, and improving the quality of life for all residents of Kansas.
