Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?
Incest, rape, and endangerment of the life of the mother.
What in the nature of mankind caused America’s Founders to carefully define, separate, and limit powers in the Constitution?
Mankind's attraction to power and authority is the reason the US Constitution limits powers. A checks and balances system was created to address this.
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
I am a Christian Christ-Follower who strives to learn and love more and more everyday the Lord Jesus Christ.
When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and immigration, which of the following best describes you overall?
Moderate
Please provide publicly available information validating your answer to the previous question.
I believe in consolidation of government to create efficiencies and saving of tax dollars. I believe in strong public safety initiatives that protect our first responders with resources they need to protect their communities. I believe that government can effectively drive and stimulate the economy, but I also believe that once business is enticed to create or expand, government should get out of the way. I believe in equality and equity. I believe the Constitution should work for all people, and that morality is hard to legislate. I believe in offering mom's a multitude of options other than abortion, including state-sponsored substance abuse treatment where they can bring their kids with them, like I've done in my city. I believe that we must help each other in all ways possible to raise our next generation.
What is the best way to bring down unemployment?
Provide workforce training and offer hope that once someone does get a job, they are able to live decently from their wages.
How would you promote healthcare coverage that is adequate, affordable and accessible for all?
I think medicaid needs expanded to allow for drug treatment, and mental health.
What role should government play in boosting the economy?
I think government can incentivize business and hold business accountable to communities through incentives. For instance, government can invest in the infrastructure surrounding a factory, and the factory in return will be encouraged to expand and create jobs. I think the government can help people boost their skills and better jobs will be attracted to that community.
What education or experience qualifies you to hold the office for which you seek election?
I was a single-father navigating school and life. I know am the father of a blended family of seven and understand the economic challenges of having four boys in school. I was a middle school Social Studies teacher for 7.5 years and have seen kids at the best and worst days. I understand our education system depends so much on the teachers who give so much everyday, and the parents who support their sons and daughters. As Mayor, I understand at a very deep level the challenges facing rural communities, and the identity crisis many are under with budget cuts due to property-tax caps and circuit breaker losses. I have made tough decisions with my City's best interest at heart always.
