AFFILIATIONS

Chaya, Co-founder. A longtime advocate for women and immigrant rights, I recognized how often domestic violence in the South Asian community goes unreported. In response, I co-founded Chaya (now API Chaya) and led the organization’s work to end systemic violence through education and prevention. While at Chaya, I was President of the Board of Directors for two years, worked as a victim advocate, led a girls group to empower young women in the South Asian community, and provided training for Chaya volunteer advocates as well as culturally specific training for domestic violence organizations in the community., National Alliance on Mental Illness, Eastside

I was Chair of the Board from 2015 to 2017 and Co-Chair of the Board from 2013 to 2015. I earned the organization’s highest award, the Rynas Advocacy Award, in January 2017.
