What in the nature of mankind caused America’s Founders to carefully define, separate, and limit powers in the Constitution?

The human part. Power corrupts the best intentions. Its simply too easy for those in power to let it go to their heads.

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I am a Christian believer. Government governs best when it governs according to the accurate understanding of human nature seen in scripture, that men and women are both fallen and redeemable, in need of laws and limits but also responsible for themselves and capable of good. This is the difficult challenge, to allow freedom for the human soul to prosper and yet prevent the worst abuse of that freedom. The balance the founders drew was that government should be small and well defined and subject to the control of the people.

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and immigration, which of the following best describes you overall?

Conservative

What is the best way to bring down unemployment?

Reduce taxes and employment costs and regulations, improve education opportunities including trade schools, provide stability and predictability to government economic policy.

How would you promote healthcare coverage that is adequate, affordable and accessible for all?

1. Eliminate the tax exemption for employer provided health care. 2. Require publication of all prices for all services of all providers 3. Synchronize state insurance requirements to allow national plans All these would massively drive down prices and eliminate over time trans-portability issues as a massive national market is created and consumer choice is brought to bear and bureaucratic burden of government insurance regulation is removed.

What role should government play in boosting the economy?

The primary role of government is one of caretaker or gardener not architect. The economy is a private endevour, the government should encourage reasonable risk taking and reward, promote education and strong communities. Government must provide a stable regulatory environment and neutrally enforce contracts, not pick certain companies in favor of others.

What education or experience qualifies you to hold the office for which you seek election?

My experience as a mechanical systems and controls engineer gives me an appreciation for the combined effect of the different parts of a system, a view of the big picture, a passion for efficiency and eliminating waste. Government needs nothing more than a good engineer to drive some efficiency into the system!
