QUESTIONNAIRE

RIGHT TO LIFE

Under what circumstances should an elective abortion be allowed?

All life is precious but, when the pregnancy is the result of illegal activity or could result in the loss of life of the mother, a careful consideration should be required to determine the allowable procedure.

Chemical abortion drugs should meet essential safety standards (such as in-person consultation with a medical doctor) and require reporting to gather evidence on reactions and outcomes.

Strongly Agree

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).

Strongly Agree

I support 'aid in dying' laws which legalize assisted suicide and euthanasia.

Strongly Disagree

ECONOMY

Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.

Strongly Agree

What is your position on the minimum wage?

A minimum wage should be established to allow entry level workers an opportunity to be employed. A workable minimum wage allows for training and advancement in the workplace which will lead to increases in pay.

Should environmental and social issues, like ESG (environmental, social, and governance) ratings, be used as criteria in deciding where to invest public monies?

No

We have existing laws which provide protections of critical elements of our society but as ESG is being interpreted, it often precludes advancement of innovation practices and precludes trusting the stewardship of human and physical resources to less qualified individuals.

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

Under what circumstances can government close churches?

I don't believe the government has the right to close churches based on the 1st amendment.

Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.

Strongly Disagree

HEALTHCARE

What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D) Taxpayer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be defunded.

C. Medicaid and Medicare should be available as a safety net for those who are not able to care for their healthcare needs. As government provides for funding, it must adequately cover all procedures to not jeopardize the solvency of the providers.

Under what circumstances (if any) should a government, school, or employer be allowed to require vaccinations?

When vaccinations have clearly been tested and proven effective, it may be allowable to have societal standards for the protection of the public.

NATIONAL SECURITY

The Chinese Communist Party poses serious military, cyber security, intellectual property, and global economic threats to the United States.

Strongly Agree

Is the United States' relationship with Israel important, and if so why?

Israel has been an ally of the United States and we have committed to a mutually beneficial relationship. Given our history together, it is important that we maintain our alliance to assure our credibility in the world and preserve stability in the Middle East.

IMMIGRATION

The U.S. should do more to physically secure the southern border.

Strongly Agree

EDUCATION

The state should fund education by allowing dollars to follow the child through programs which protect parents' freedom to choose their child's school – public, private, or homeschool.

Agree

Washington is obligated to provide education for all children. The local school districts should have more autonomy to provide education but if parents choose alternatives to the public education system, the funds to educate should follow the students.

VALUES

Children are the most vulnerable members of society and must be protected from abuse, including gender ideology, grooming, and bodily mutilation.

Strongly Agree

Parents should have the right to make decisions for their minor children.

Agree

Parents should have the right and responsibility to make decisions for their children. My only qualifier is that I would establish the age of 18 or until the child has established an independent living situation.

Taxpayer funds should be used to provide gender transition services.

Strongly Disagree

Marriage is a God-ordained, sacred and legal union of one man and one woman. No government has the authority to alter this definition.

Strongly Agree

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

As a born-again Christian, I have put my trust and faith in Jesus for my life. His sacrifice has given me the opportunity to experience abundant life and has set the standard for my values. My service-oriented life is based on Jesus' declaration that He came to serve and not to be served.

ELECTIONS AND VOTING

People should be able to vote without photo identification.

Strongly Disagree

States should join the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact which makes the Electoral College irrelevant.

Strongly Disagree

EQUALITY

Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?

Racism undermines the goal of unity which we should be working to achieve. If we continue to draw distinctions in respective races, we are not looking past the outward appearance to embrace the inner person. This fosters division which encourages a lack of trust among Americans.

I agree with Critical Race Theory (CRT) which asserts that the institutions in the United States are fundamentally racist.

Strongly Disagree

Biological males should not be allowed to participate in women's sports or occupy biological women's spaces whether it be bathrooms, locker rooms, sorority houses, women's shelters, or prison.

Strongly Agree

ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT

Which comes closest to your view? (Select all that apply) A) Stricter environmental laws and regulations cost too many jobs and hurt the economy. B) Stricter environmental laws and regulations are worth the cost. C) Stricter environmental laws undermine U.S. energy independence and deter development of reliable electricity sources. D) Climate change is real and requires urgent policy action.

C Environmental laws are adequate for providing a balance between utilization of resources and protection of the environment. Mankind often overestimates the influence human activity has on the environment and implements policies whose beneficial impacts are not quantifiable.

What do you believe is the most reliable energy source that will supply the growing demand for electricity?

Nuclear energy provides the most potential for a consistent, stable supply of energy.

ABOUT YOU

Have you ever been penalized for sexual misconduct in either civil or criminal court? If so, please explain.

No

Have you ever been convicted of a felony? If so, please explain.

No

What do you think is the general purpose of government?

The general purpose of government is to provide services that the private sector is not equipped to provide. Government's role should be minimal and allow for individual success to occur.

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?

Conservative

Labels are very subjective and don't clearly represent where one may be politically. Without a definitive criterion, it is difficult to determine where an individual may be on a given subject.

CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY

I support redirecting funds from police departments to community programs.

Strongly Disagree

Washington has the lowest per capita number of law enforcement officers. The presence of law enforcement officers has proven to be a deterrent to criminal activity. More officers on the street allows for proactive efforts of officers in developing relationships in their communities.

2ND AMENDMENT

What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?

Current laws have been passed with the idea that additional legislation will change behavior. Addition restrictions will not ensure public safety because laws are only obeyed by law abiding citizens.

Should teachers be allowed to carry guns at school?

Yes

If teachers do carry guns, they must be appropriately trained and certified. This could be a deterrent and would provide for a timelier response if there was an incident.
