QUESTIONNAIRE
RIGHT TO LIFE
Human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection at every stage until natural death.
Strongly Agree
Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds or grants from federal, state, or local governments.
Strongly Agree
I support the Born Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, which requires health care providers to provide life-saving treatment for infants who survive an attempted abortion.
Strongly Agree
Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?
I am a Pro-Life candidate and believe in natural life from conception to natural death.I believe in leading by example. I’m the proud dad of two young boys, and don’t support abortion efforts or funding it. We need to focus on educating people on why abortion is wrong and how its tears into our society.I believe that the extreme circumstance under which an abortion is justifiable is when the life of both the mother and the child are forfeit without an abortion. In this case, the abortion occurs in an effort to preserve life rather than taking a life or because it is convenient.
ECONOMY
It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has a livable income.
Neutral
Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.
Strongly Agree
What government spending would you reduce in order to balance the budget?
Change the government spending process to a zero-based budget, requiring the review of all departments on a rolling two year cycle.
RELIGIOUS LIBERTY
Governments should not discriminate against individuals, organizations or small businesses because of their belief that marriage is only a union of one man and one woman.
Agree
Governments should define marriage as between one man and one woman; no other definition of marriage should be legalized or supported with taxpayer or public funds.
Disagree
Religious liberty is at risk in the United States and deserves the highest level of protection in the law.
Agree
I promise to protect the freedom of Christians to share the Gospel and to practice Biblical principles.
Yes
What does "separation of church and state" mean to you?
Separation of church and state is to protect religious freedom in our country from government involvement. It is not meant to discourage religious expression. In Lemon v. Kurtzman (1971), the Court established a three-pronged test for laws dealing with religious establishment. To be constitutional a statute must have “a secular legislative purpose,” it must have principal effects that neither advance nor inhibit religion, and it must not foster “an excessive government entanglement with religion.” The use of prayer at the beginning of an event or saying "God bless" or "so help me God" does not count as excessive entanglement because it does not provide direct aid to religion in a way that would tend to establish a state church or involve citizens in religion against their will.
HEALTHCARE
It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has health insurance.
Neutral
How would you promote healthcare coverage that is adequate, affordable and accessible for all?
I would encourage economic growth to promote healthcare that is affordable for all. I think the most efficient method of doing this is by encouraging economic growth through reduced taxes and regulation and develop the necessary infrastructure that can encourage long-term job growth that will position people with the financial security to choose the best healthcare coverage.
NATIONAL SECURITY
The best way to maintain peace is through a strong military.
Agree
IMMIGRATION
I am in favor of construction of a wall and other necessary infrastructure on our border that gives complete control over entering and exiting the United States.
Agree
State and federal funds should be denied to any public or private entity, including but not limited to sanctuary cities, that are not in compliance with immigration laws.
Agree
Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?
All those who follow our immigration procedures and laws.
EDUCATION
Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.
Disagree
VALUES
Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which is necessary for our system of limited government.
Agree
I support adding sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression as protected classes in non-discrimination laws.
Strongly Disagree
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
I was raised Catholic which has shaped my belief in God and Jesus Christ.
ABOUT YOU
When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and immigration, which of the following best describes you overall?
Conservative

What education or experience qualifies you to hold the office for which you seek election?
I am a retired Marine Corps Lieutenant Colonel with over 21 years of service and extensive experience in leadership, operations and training development while working in complex and challenging environments. I have led large organizations and have been responsible for the successful completion of numerous programs, contracts, and operations. I have a proven record of successfully building coalitions and leading teams of all sizes in a variety of tasks around the globe. I have the experience, passion, and work ethic to be the legislative leader to champion for the needs of the people of Spokane.
Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.
No.
Is there anything else you would like voters to know about you?
There are a few questions in the survey where the options do not properly convey my thoughts. In question 3, I would remove the second half starting with "because." Government should not discriminate. In question 4, I think that government is not the proper authority to define marriage and should leave that to the church. In question 12, education should be guaranteed through high school. College should be addressed separately, depending on the type of college program. JUDICIAL PHILOSOPHY
I support the use of Sharia law as a basis for legislation and judicial decisions in the United States.
Strongly Disagree
CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY
Mandatory minimum sentencing should be required and enforced for violent crimes.
Strongly Agree
2ND AMENDMENT
Should teachers be allowed to carry guns at school?
Yes
What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?
We should enforce the gun laws we already have before adding new laws that only affect law abiding citizens.
OTHER IMPORTANT ISSUES
People should be able to vote without photo identification.
Disagree
I support the legalization of recreational marijuana.
Neutral
The Electoral College should be abolished.
Strongly Disagree
In priority order, what three areas of legislation do you propose to author or sponsor if elected?
1. Repeal 5395 Mandatory Comprehensive Sex Ed. 2.Implement I976 $30 car tabs. Voters have already passed it. There is no reason that it has not been implemented except lack of leadership by the legislature. 3. Implement legislature to revitalize the economy and assist small business owners by protecting against raising unemployment tax, extending the premium relief program, forgoing the salary increase set to take effect July 1st, and other such efforts.
Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?
Racism is a social ill rather than a threat to the domestic security in the United States. Racism is a flaw that needs to be eliminated from society by focusing on the dignity, humanity, and inherent worth of every person, for we are all equally created in the image and likeness of God, our creator.
