Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?
Concern for the unborn child, a human being in their own right should be the paramount interest for every pregnant mother. Our society bears responsibility to protect both mother and child, especially under threat or risk of injury. In a perfect world, terminating the life of an unborn child should only be considered in cases of imminent risk to the mother. However we do not live in a perfect world. To "allow" abortion implies we can control all cases of abortion, which even the most rigorous laws cannot do. Desperate women do desperate things. Individuals are free to make bad decisions, but public money should never be used to fund them. Nor should any company be compelled by law to fund abortion. I would favor a strong public education movement that teaches the benefits of abstinence, the lasting detrimental effects of sexual impropriety and abortion, and the awful suffering of the child and the mother through these choices.
What in the nature of mankind caused America’s Founders to carefully define, separate, and limit powers in the Constitution?
We all have the capacity for great love, but also for great error. Our founding Fathers knew that the lust for power and control can be irresistible, especially in the context of governing. In their great wisdom they saw fit to separate the different necessary functions of government and to place equal power in each branch.
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
I am a Christian, I believe that God manifested as human in Jesus Christ, lived as one of us, understands our sorrows and struggles, and was crucified. He died and was raised from the dead, and through his resurrection demonstrated that we too have power over the grave, everlasting life and a hope that cannot fade or perish. Because of this deeply held belief, I believe I am personally saved and protected from the worries of this life. God is in control and either I trust him or I don't. I am compelled by my belief to pursue understanding and doing His will to the best of my ability and leaving the results to Him. This philosophy brings me personal peace and confidence, knowing that if He is with me, who can be against me? I am running for office because of my deep, compassionate love for my fellow travelers. For some reason I was made to turn my heart towards you and make a way when there is none. I am thankful for this quality, and pray for the energy to finish the task ahead of me.
When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and immigration, which of the following best describes you overall?
Conservative
Please provide publicly available information validating your answer to the previous question.

What is the best way to bring down unemployment?
The regulatory burdens in our business environment are intended to reel in abuses. Perhaps there is some role for the government to play in order to prevent excesses. However at this point I see business owners struggling to maintain their companies through the maze of legal concerns, prohibitive and confusing taxes, unreasonable regulations and a whole host of business-killing obstructions. Just starting a new business is so onerous that few try, and fewer young people dream of doing so. Removing the barriers to private businesses will go a long way toward reducing unemployment. Another aspect would be to allow the tax base to grow through prosperity which would provide public money to use for infrastructure projects. This would buoy business in many parts of our district, especially areas that lack sewer and water required for growth.
How would you promote healthcare coverage that is adequate, affordable and accessible for all?
We know many things that are wrong with our healthcare system, yet refuse to address them. Socialized medicine will bankrupt the country and we attempt it at our peril. These are things we should do before even considering a total revision of our health care system. Address Tort Reform, insurance reform, pharmaceutical drug costs, transparency of costs to allow for competition, and preventive care. I think there will always be some shortfalls in our medical system - but is it reasonable to expect a utopian system? What other product is high quality, affordable, and universally available to all? Can we reasonably expect to have all three all the time without giving up something important in return? Let us first remove or reduce the barriers we know we have then continue to improve our system from there. It would be a very good start.
What role should government play in boosting the economy?
Government must provide a safe community with fair laws and minimal intrusion for business to thrive. With government out of the way, people will be plenty motivated to boost the economy.
What education or experience qualifies you to hold the office for which you seek election?
The House of Representatives is the People's house. Every legislator has to start from the beginning. As a private citizen I held a variety of positions which gives me the ability to be conversant in many fields. Having a broad view and broad experience is an advantage as a legislator because you can bring matters to question that are different. I can think outside the box. I have been involved in the following fields: A startup aluminum boat manufacturing company - I was the first American employee for this Australian company. Construction Laborer apprentice and later Journeyman. I started my own construction company and ran it for 5 years. I suffered divorce and the struggles of single parenthood. I worked my way up in a large yacht company and received national recognition for my work there. I worked in Mortgage/Real Estate and investment circles and lost my livelihood through the mortgage crisis. At age 50 I finally returned to college and became a nurse. I just never quit!

Is there anything else you would like voters to know about you?
I am concerned for the citizens of our rural Olympic Peninsula. As I travel the district and meet the common folk who live and work here there are some themes that arise. We are tired of our fortunes and futures being determined by powers that do not live here and work here. Urban areas have different needs and different solutions. We favor local control and local decision making. We are not in support of new taxes such as an income tax, Capital Gains tax, or Carbon tax. All of these would hurt our economy and cripple families and businesses. We are concerned about the hopeless state of our children and seeing them turn to drugs for the answers. We need a hope and a future to look forward to. In the past 8 years our economy has declined 6%. Unemployment is up, wages are down. We need a change!
