Raised and confirmed in the Lutheran Church, I came to know Jesus Christ as my personal Savior in high school through Young Life. I stand firmly on the Apostles Creed and desire to follow God's Word by reading and knowing the Bible. I have been given the gift of forgiveness by God's grace and want to reflect His love to others. I am called to politics to live out Micah 6:8: To do justice, to love mercy and walk humbly with my God.

The Federal government's role is very limited in a free market economy. Its designated agencies should protect the people by enforcing laws, prosecuting fraud and corruption, and allowing the free flow of products across state borders, and fair trade with countries around the world.

As a TV news journalist in Seattle for 20 years, and serving as a viewer advocate, I am well informed on the issues that matter to the citizens of the Northwest.As a skilled communicator I can articulate complex issues and understand the importance of persuasion to build consensus. As the leader of a philanthropic foundation for 10 years, I know that the most generous philanthropist in the world is the American taxpayer who enables advances in science, aide throughout the needy world, medical care for many citizens, and a safety net for those in need. I don't take that for granted. As Chairman of WA GOP I fought on behalf of all taxpayers against every unfair tax that Seattle's radical left tried to pass.

My answer: Republicans are united on the burning issue of our time which is: What is the future character of America to be? Are we to be a country where every child born has a chance at the American dream or are we to be a dependency society, paid for with higher and higher taxes, where government does for people what they can do for themselves, which takes away their will to work, which takes away their dignity, which takes away their hope? On this question, we are all united. I will be fighting for the future of America every day of my campaign and when I have the privilege of serving in elective office.
