I am a strong christian with conservative values. I value life at its conception. I believe we should be responsible for the decisions we make and the actions we take. Racism does not belong in our society. I believe that government should play a limited role in our lives.

How would you promote healthcare coverage that is adequate, affordable and accessible for all?
Healthcare has taken a wrong turn in our country. The ACA has wreaked havoc on our healthcare system. The dramatic leap towards single payer healthcare when the ACA was adopted caused a drag on the free market. If congress would have enacted better legislation to help curb increasing healthcare costs the country would not be in the dire circumstances it is in now with the ACA slowly collapsing in on itself. Congress should not be reactionary, but should be leading the way to a better and more inclusive healthcare system.

Government should stay out of the way of the free market. Lowering taxes should be the number one priority. The federal reserve should not use its heavy hand to artificially control the economy.

The tax code should not be used to carve out specific businesses or expenses to give unfair advantage to one business over the other. A simpler tax code should be implemented so most Americans could fill out and file their tax forms in minutes, not hours or days.

Since future generations are living longer and healthier lives, the age at which the Social Security benefits are started should be raised. For those who won't be receiving benefits for at least 20 years or more, the age limit should be adjusted up slightly by one or two years, giving ample time to plan for the additional time needed for retirement. I am also in favor of a portion of Social Security being privatized so the individual has more control over their own retirement. I would like to see legislation passed that would restrict the ability of congress to borrow from Social Security to pay for other programs, and then to repay what has been borrowed.

I have 30 years of experience in owning my own small successful business. I have been an elected official for the Sultan City Council for nine years and have served on county and regional boards as a representative for all the cities within Snohomish County.
