Governments should not discriminate against individuals, organizations or small businesses because of their belief that marriage is only a union of one man and one woman.
Strongly Agree
Governments should define marriage as between one man and one woman; no other definition of marriage should be legalized or supported with taxpayer or public funds.

iVoterGuide Notes:
Mortensen is a licensed minister and she is not sure if she would marry a gay couple. She said it would depend upon the situation. However, no one has the right to say, “You can’t do anything which is legal, and it is legal in this country. I don’t see what all the hubbub is about.” Twitter post: "I support traditional marriage as defined in the Bible. However, I also believe in love, not hate, not judgement. I support the LGBTQ community. From a strictly libertarian stand point - it’s none of my business how you live your life. It’s my job to show the love of Christ."

Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?
I support a woman’s right to choose an abortion in the case of rape, incest or whenever the mother’s life may be in danger. Anytime a woman must face these circumstances it is a tragedy and she deserves support and compassion. We need to do all we can to protect women from heinous crimes like rape. I believe in prosecuting rapists to the full extent of the law to make sure they never inflict that pain on another woman again. I know first hand that laws like those work to keep communities and all women safe.
What should the United States do to help eradicate the threat of radical Islamic terrorism?
We must allow our military leaders to act and not let politicians get in the way of executing their mission. Our military should be allowed to act swiftly and with the necessary force to eliminate the problems we face.
What in the nature of mankind caused America’s Founders to carefully define, separate, and limit powers in the Constitution?
Our founders understood that there are natural rights given to use by God. Establishing a system of government that allowed those rights to flourish and grow was essential and having the constitution enumerate those rights and establishing a frame work to ensure the rights would not be limited or infringed upon is what has kept America the shining city on the hill all these years later.
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
I am a Christian. I have been saved since I was 6 years old. I've been in church since I was 6 weeks old. I believe Jesus Christ is our Lord and savior and that he died on the cross and rose again. I am married to an Ordained Pastor with the Assemblies of God and I am a licensed minister with the Assemblies of God.

How would you promote healthcare coverage that is adequate, affordable and accessible for all?
Solving our healthcare crisis won’t be easy, but we desperately need reform. You don’t need the government telling you what type of healthcare you require. You should be able to pick the plan that works best for you. It is time we gave power back to the people to make their health care decisions. It’s time the people who need quality care get it. Too many people are being left behind thanks to ACA and we cannot allow that to happen any longer. We can no longer put our heads in the sand and act like everything will just work out. Lying to the American people must stop. We must tell the truth and bring solutions. We don’t need government run health care or insurance run healthcare. We need patient focused healthcare.
What role should government play in boosting the economy?
The government should provide an environment with low regulation and a tax structure that encourages innovation and growth. Outside of that the government should not try to boost the economy, it should rely on job creators and businesses to grow our economy.
What changes should be made to the tax code?
I would like to see how the current tax plan passed in December effects growth and our deficit before we make any more changes. I am 100% for tax reform. I do wish the tax cuts just passed were permanent.
What is the best way to bring down unemployment?
Unemployment is nearing an all-time low and more people are entering the workforce. This is happening because we have allowed businesses the certainty to hire again with lower taxes and regulation reduction.
How would you guarantee Social Security benefits for future generations?
Social Security is estimated to be insolvent in 17 years. That means someone who receives $2000 a month from social security now will get $1500 or less in 17 years. That said we must address the issue. We need to find ways to cut spending across the board and in all areas of government in order to save these programs and make sure they thrive for all future generations that have paid into the system
What education or experience qualifies you to hold the office for which you seek election?
I have 2 degrees from SMU. One in politics and one in Broadcast Journalism. As a TV journalist for 18 years, I've covered every major federal development, election and world event during that time. One of the biggest threats the conservative movement faces is the liberal narrative constantly being preached on TV news. In order to defeat your enemy you need to know your enemy and I know first hand how the media works. I communicate a message very well, i know how to handle the media, and if elected would be one of only a handful of republicans who can successfully flip the script on the mainstream media's biased reports. I also have a long history of working in politics serving for republican congressional representatives, senators and on Presidential campaigns.
