Human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection at every stage until natural death.

Strongly Agree

I am in favor of construction of a wall and other necessary infrastructure on our border that gives complete control over entering and exiting the United States.

Strongly Agree

Governments should not discriminate against individuals, organizations or small businesses because of their belief that marriage is only a union of one man and one woman.

Strongly Agree

Governments should define marriage as between one man and one woman; no other definition of marriage should be legalized or supported with taxpayer or public funds.

Strongly Agree

It is the government’s responsibility to be sure everyone has a livable income.

Strongly Disagree

It is the government’s responsibility to be sure everyone has health insurance.

Strongly Disagree

Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which permitted our system of limited government.

Strongly Agree

More restrictive gun control is needed to protect public safety.

Strongly Disagree

Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.

Strongly Agree

Religious liberty is at risk in the United States and deserves the highest level of protection in the law.

Any teaching to children on sex education in public schools must include all contraceptive methods, and should not show preference to abstinence.

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive funds from federal, state, or local governments.

The state constitution should limit the growth of spending to the rate of population growth plus the rate of inflation.

Congress should pass a balanced budget amendment to the Constitution.

I support using a party caucus to nominate my party's candidate for Speaker of the Texas House of Representatives, and I pledge to vote for my party's nominee.

Yes

I voted in these primaries and general elections:

2010 General Election, 2010 Republican Primary, 2012 General Election, 2012 Republican Primary, 2014 General Election, 2014 Republican Primary, 2016 General Election, 2016 Republican Primary

Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?

None. The intentional taking a life via abortion is always murder, no exceptions. However, I would not vote against a bill that moved towards this goal simply because it was not as strong as I would like (i.e., had a rape/incest/life of the mother exception in it).

What in the nature of mankind caused America’s Founders to carefully define, separate, and limit powers in the Constitution?

“The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately sick; who can understand it?” Jeremiah 17:9.

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I am a sinner who has been saved by grace through the redeeming work of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I attend, and am a member of a spirit-filled Baptist church (The Village Church). My spiritual beliefs and values are informed by and taken from the Bible.

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and immigration, which of the following best describes you overall?

What is the best way to bring down unemployment?

Reduce regulations, taxes, and other government-created obstacles which discourage investors and business owners from deploying their capital to start or expend their businesses, which will lead to the hiring of new employees.

How would you promote healthcare coverage that is adequate, affordable and accessible for all?

- Assist in promoting a regulatory scheme which allows for the sale of insurance across state lines. - Advocate for the removal of federal regulation of health insurance (i.e., repealing ObamaCare). - Advocate for expanded choice and options available within health insurance plans at the state level (i.e., remove state-mandated requirements that drive up the cost of insurance policies). - Work to ensure that Medicaid funds are block-granted to the state. - Work to investigate high-risk pools or other free-market or innovative solutions for those that may not be able to currently purchase health insurance

What role should government play in boosting the economy?

The only role that government should play in boosting the economy is in ensuring an atmosphere of low taxation, minimal regulation, and fair and efficient courts, while focusing the spending of public tax dollars on the core functions of government (like public safety, water, and transportation infrastructure).

What education or experience qualifies you to hold the office for which you seek election?

I have experience as both an attorney and as a small business owner, in addition to being active in promoting conservative candidates and causes. As an attorney, I stood up to defend the little guy, as well as our 2nd Amendment rights in the courtroom, and learned how to read and analyze legislation and other similar legal documents. As a small business owner, I have experience balancing a budget, meeting a payroll, and paying taxes. I know how hard it can be to start and grow a business, and that it is our small businesses that are the true job creators in our economy. As a volunteer and an activist I have been involved for over a decade promoting and working for conservative causes and candidates at the local, state, and national level.
