OTHER INFORMATION

QUESTIONNAIRE

RIGHT TO LIFE

Human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection at every stage until natural death.

Strongly Agree

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds or grants from federal, state, or local governments.

Strongly Agree

I support the Born Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, which requires health care providers to provide life-saving treatment for infants who survive an attempted abortion.

Agree

Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?

Only if necessary to SAVE the life of the mother.

ECONOMY

It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has a livable income.

Strongly Disagree

Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.

Strongly Agree

What government spending would you reduce in order to balance the budget?

I'm running for the State Legislature so I will focus on reducing the actual cost of healthcare. I would also want to reduce the prison population by allowing for house arrest for some non-violent offenders when they can be reunited with and provide for their families.

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

Governments should not discriminate against individuals, organizations or small businesses because of their belief that marriage is only a union of one man and one woman.

Strongly Agree

Governments should define marriage as between one man and one woman; no other definition of marriage should be legalized or supported with taxpayer or public funds.

Strongly Agree

Religious liberty is at risk in the United States and deserves the highest level of protection in the law.

Agree

I promise to protect the freedom of Christians to share the Gospel and to practice Biblical principles.

Yes

What does "separation of church and state" mean to you?

The Constitution says that Congress Shall Make No Law... establishing or denying the citizens' right to practice religion.

HEALTHCARE

It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has health insurance.

Strongly Disagree

How would you promote healthcare coverage that is adequate, affordable and accessible for all?

I would want to change the funding of healthcare for the poor. Currently those who struggle to pay for their own healthcare are funding those who can't afford their own. I would like an excise tax on entertainment, strictly for indegent healthcare, which would offset income taxes in Georgia. I have a plan for rural healthcare which would provide local walk in clinics connected to local fire stations. Tort reform is needed for indegent healthcare; this would draw more doctors into providing the services at reduced costs. We also need to eliminate procedures that are proven ineffective in peer reviews.

NATIONAL SECURITY

The best way to maintain peace is through a strong military.

Agree

IMMIGRATION

I am in favor of construction of a wall and other necessary infrastructure on our border that gives complete control over entering and exiting the United States.

Strongly Agree

State and federal funds should be denied to any public or private entity, including but not limited to sanctuary cities, that are not in compliance with immigration laws.

Strongly Agree

Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?

I believe in limited immigration based upon merit while protecting the wages of US citizens. I'm OK with families sponsoring relatives so long as there is no financial burden placed upon any government resources.

EDUCATION

Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.

Strongly Disagree

VALUES

Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which is necessary for our system of limited government.

Strongly Agree

I support adding sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression as protected classes in non-discrimination laws.

Strongly Disagree

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I'm a born again Christian, which means that I am Spiritually born through the crucifixion, and acceptance of Jesus Christ. I believe that the Bible is our best guide for the individual and for those who seek to govern. I'm struck by much of the Old Testament's description of leaders and nations fell away from God and the need for national repentance for restoration.

ABOUT YOU

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and immigration, which of the following best describes you overall?

Conservative

Please provide publicly available information validating your answer to the previous question.

callahan4ga@gmail.com facebook.com/davidcallahanforgahd63

What education or experience qualifies you to hold the office for which you seek election?

Serving on the Homeowners board of my former neighborhood gave me some experience in dealing with local government as well as with the residents. Living a responsible life without being extremely rich or poor gives me a balanced view of my district and of the State of Georgia.

Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.

NO

Is there anything else you would like voters to know about you?

For many years I've given much thought and study to a balanced role of government. Government is necessary for the protection and well being of the citizens but by nature it leans towards corruption simply because it gives those in government access to money that they did not earn. The word STEWARDSHIP should be the operative for anyone seeking political office. I believe that I have been a reasonably decent steward of those "talents" that God gave me.

JUDICIAL PHILOSOPHY

I support the use of Sharia law as a basis for legislation and judicial decisions in the United States.

Strongly Disagree

CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY

Mandatory minimum sentencing should be required and enforced for violent crimes.

Agree

2ND AMENDMENT

Should teachers be allowed to carry guns at school?

Yes

What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?

I believe in universal background checks. We need to prevent "straw man" sales to criminals. Prescription drugs that lead to depression or suicidal thoughts should include a written and verbal warning from the pharmacist to the recipient and any responsible parties.

OTHER IMPORTANT ISSUES

People should be able to vote without photo identification.

Strongly Disagree

I support the legalization of recreational marijuana.

Disagree

The Electoral College should be abolished.

Strongly Disagree

In priority order, what three areas of legislation do you propose to author or sponsor if elected?

Defend current pro-life legislation and seek additional legislation as appropriate to further restrict and eliminate on demand abortion. Will introduce or cosponsor end of No Knock Warrants in Georgia Work to provide School Choice options for children in failing or hostile schools. I support a 50/50 formula.

Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?

Define what racism means. Some are pathologically concerned about race identity. We should be investigating the source(s) of the current conflict and the funding there of.
