Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?

I believe that Abortion is a mind and body damaging solution and should only be done as a last resort for the mother. Also as Libertarian I am not going to push legislation to ban abortion. My personal view is abortion is wrong especially when the fetus is formed into a baby with the heart beating. I would not push for legislation to ban abortion or to legalize it if it becomes illegal.

What should the United States do to help eradicate the threat of radical Islamic terrorism?

Radical Islam should be opposed in the United States. I believe in a global presence to keep other super powers globally from becoming too dominant. However bombing and war has only increased the power of radical Islam. Free trade and the spread of freedom of information and learning. Not trading with countries who would not treat all people as equals and fairly.

What in the nature of mankind caused America’s Founders to carefully define, separate, and limit powers in the Constitution?

The Constitution was well thought out document for maximum personal freedom and limiting the power of the government. The Founding Fathers were in the middle of dealing with a tyrant the King of England. A lot of the writings of the Founders of our Nation are about protecting speech, arms, religion, illegal search and seizures. They dealt with and saw the absolute corruption from the people with absolute power.

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I believe in a higher power and that all people should be morally good. I am an Eagle Scout and a Marine Veteran. Everyone should be treated with fairness and equality from the government. Everyone should have the right to believe what they want as long as it doesn't take away other peoples rights of liberty, life and property.

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and immigration, which of the following best describes you overall?

Conservative

Please provide publicly available information validating your answer to the previous question.

I am fiscally Conservative. I support building a border wall. It's cost is estimated around 21 billion dollars and would stop the majority of people coming into this country illegally. The cost of immigrants in our country using public services like education, emergency rooms, and other public assistance programs costs 128 billion dollars. So in short we need a wall. We also need to have immigration reform. We need an easier path way to citizenship. We need to have migrant worker programs for people to work while on the pathway to citizenship. We need to have English as a first language so everyone can follow the law and pay taxes.

How would you promote healthcare coverage that is adequate, affordable and accessible for all?

Free Market is the best answer. You don't have to steal anyone's hard work and labor to pay for someone else who can't afford it. If we had a true free market system and not a system run by the insurance companies through corporate capitalism we might be able to make health care affordable for everyone. If you want a true model of free market insurance look at pet insurance. You pay a low price that the companies compete for your business and they pay for your pets medical needs. It has the highest satisfaction ratings of all the insurances in the country as far as price paid and needs met. In the case where people can't pay for procedures. Some doctors are willing to volunteer their time and effort to help those that can't normally pay for procedures. Also I think churches should play a bigger role in taking care of the needy. Churches are multi million dollar fund raising charities they should have the ability to help those in need.Disabled people should still get S.S. and Medicare.

What role should government play in boosting the economy?

The government should stay out of the economy as much as possible. There should keep anti monopoly legislation in place and consumer protection to protect against scams. Let the free market control the economy. We need lower taxes and minimal government regulation to keep the free market booming. A government CANNOT tax it's people into prosperity.

What changes should be made to the tax code?

We should get rid of the complex tax code, It is so difficult you need to hire specialists to do your taxes for you. We need to move to a fair/flat tax. Get rid of payroll/income tax. Fair or flat tax, a national sales tax that can be adjusted quarterly to help balance the Federal Budget.

What is the best way to bring down unemployment?

Keep taxes low and or lower them even more. This grows business and business hires more people. Higher taxes mean less workers higher unemployment. Also give tax incentives to businesses for having more employees not punishment by giving them higher corporate taxes.

How would you guarantee Social Security benefits for future generations?

Privatize it and regulate the fees from the private company running it. Make it a type of company match 401k but federally. Don't let the Federal government borrow from it.

What education or experience qualifies you to hold the office for which you seek election?

I have been studying politics and the economy for most of my adult life. The system right now favors rich candidates that follow the party line. If we want to break corporate controlled politics we have have to elect people who have their own beliefs and morals not the candidates that raise the most money from their corporate backers. The founding fathers created our legislative branch of government to be for the people by the people and not the corrupt version it is today. I am the MOST qualified person because I have the morals of an Eagle Scout and the dedication to this country of a U.S. Marine Veteran.

Is there anything else you would like voters to know about you?

While I have not been a politician before, I have a long history behind me of being civically minded member of my community. When I was a young man I spent 11 years in the Boy Scouts, ultimately achieving my Eagle Scout. That organization stresses character, good citizenship, and traditional American values. I learned the value of hard work, honesty, and just rewards. I continued on to the Armed Forces, joining the Marine Corps as a continuation of my commitment to this country and my fellow citizens. Many politicians running for office in the US today hold a position based on what is politically convenient at the time. I do not. As a Libertarian, I hold to a specific political, social, and economic ideology. You will know what I believe at the beginning, middle, and end of any political career you may entrust me with. I invite you to look through my statements on the issues to find out what those beliefs are. Check out my website at www.VoteJoshuaHancock49th.us
