Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?
I am against abortion and or Euthanasia. I would be willing to discuss the allowance of abortion if it can be clearly established that it would prevent the death of the mother. This would not include emotional distress or other conditions that would not include the death of the mother.
What should the United States do to help eradicate the threat of radical Islamic terrorism?
We must control our imigration policies. We must do everything we can to prevent radicalized Muslims from entering the United States of America. This must include a physical border/ barrier. We must be committed to significant military action in regard to state sponsored terrorism. We must not enter into treaties that will possibly lead to increased military power for countries who sponsor or tolerate terrorism. We must be committed to a vital and robust military. We must be willing to actively engage in military action, when possible, against terrorists where ever they hide or operate. We must survail any organization or area where we have probable cause to believe that terrorism is being planned or promoted. We must fully fund the US agencies which collect intelligence and investigate potential terrorist threats.
What in the nature of mankind caused America’s Founders to carefully define, separate, and limit powers in the Constitution?
By their nature men will use whatever is at their disposal to increase their power and advocate for their cause. In some cases this includes corruption of what is just and good because in the minds of these people the ends justifies the means. Knowing this, the Founders wrote a system of checks and balances into the constitution, which has been remarkably effective. “If men were Angles there would be no need of Govenment.” Madison.
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
I was born into a non-spiritual family. At age 16 I found myself seeking answers and set upon a course of exploring Christianity. I became a Christian, which by my definition means accepting the fact that Jesus Christ is both God and the Son of God. There are no other gods. He offers the free gift of salvation to anyone who would accept that gift and believe on him. Moreover eternal life in heaven is the benefit of that belief. It is incumbent upon me, as a believer, to share with the world the good news of the gospel. As a Christian I personally believe that I should do my best to model my life after Christ. I believe that I should love the world and my neighbor as Christ loves us.
When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and immigration, which of the following best describes you overall?
Very Conservative
Please provide publicly available information validating your answer to the previous question.
Some call my values conservative but I call them common sense. I believe that all people should be treated with dignity and respect and that they should all be treated as equals. I believe that people should be free to strive and thrive in an atmosphere that is as free of government intervention as possible. I believe that people have a right to earn and to keep what they earn. At the same time I do believe that it is reasonable for all people to pay some taxes for basic services and national defense. I believe that people should be responsible for their actions and not the actions of others. I believe that the US Constitution is the best for of governance that has yet been devised and that it should be vigilantly protected. I believe that the US should be loath to spend more money than it can reasonably pay back in a short amount of time. I believe that we have a responsibility to posterity to be careful and judicious in financial matters.
How would you promote healthcare coverage that is adequate, affordable and accessible for all?
I believe that for those who can afford it, through private funds or acquired insurance, they should be able to access healthcare at the level that they can afford. For those without funds there should be a governmental safety net that provides a humane ammount of care. I would however make the qualifications for this type of subsidy significantly more stringent. I also feel that some procedures and accommodations may not be reasonable if the public is paying for that service. I have long believed that it would be prudent for States and Municipaties to operate public hospitals which were open to those who could not afford private ones. These facilities would employ physicians, nurses, and technicians who would pay off their student loans by providing national service, or if there were a mandatory public service to the military for all citizens, they could meet that requirement by working at these facilities. Of course public money would be needed but this seems expected.
What role should government play in boosting the economy?
Government should protect the rights of persons and businesses. Government should protect the safety of the worker, the consumer and the public. Government should be judicious about unreasonable and unfair regulations. Government should strive to keep taxes, fees and tariffs low. Government should let the market decided and not be in the business of picking winners and losers. Government should be careful not to incur much debt. Government should protect the language culture and borders of the country. Governments should be careful to champion the American worker and corporations before the foreign.
What changes should be made to the tax code?
Everyone should pay some tax so as to avoid factionalism. The tax code should be massively simplified. This might even mean some variation of the flat tax idea. Taxes should never be so onerous as to discourage innovation, ambition or achievement.
What is the best way to bring down unemployment?
Get government out of the way and allow the free market system to function. Rethink the concept that most people should train for white collar jobs and put more emphasis on non college educations such as trades. Keep the national debt low so that people and businesses are not overburdened by taxation. Be reasonable and judicious about regulations so that they do not discourage new and innovative businesses.
How would you guarantee Social Security benefits for future generations?
The first step is to eradicate the national debt. $21 Trillion is unsustainable and will be the greatest threat to social security. It is important to encourage all able bodied Americans to work. Since its inception the number of those who paid into social security versus those who took out of social security has dramatically decreased. This is again unsustainable. While some are legitimately disabled or unable to work, many are unrealistically allowed to avoid work and thereby do not contribute to easing the burden of society, making the yoke for those who do unbearable.
What education or experience qualifies you to hold the office for which you seek election?
I grew up very poor, in a family plagued by drugs and alcohol and eventually suicide. I started working at age 11 and have worked continuously since. I have risen through the ranks of academia and eventually earned my doctorate in psychology and my RN. I have lived and worked in nearly every strata of society. I am married and have raised children and grandchildren. I have worked for businesses and I have owned businesses. I have been a Mayor and a Councilmember and I have worked as a public servant. I have a Christian ethic which impels me to compassion, justice and kindness. I know that to be useful to God and man I must be a humble servant who has a dedication to duty and honor.
