Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?
Although my personal views are pro-life, I do not believe stricter regulation of government abortion will prevent women from aborting their babies. Because of this, I do not seek to tighten regulations on abortion. I do oppose any legislation to legalize partial birth abortion. I believe this is a conversation this is best held one on one, and culturally; not through government intervention.
What should the United States do to help eradicate the threat of radical Islamic terrorism?
I believe the United States needs to end the wars in the Middle East to deescalate conflict and remove the incentive for terror. Many children in the Middle East are radicalized because they lose their parents and families due to US drone strikes and military destabilization. This creates a powerful incentive to harm us. By removing the incentive, we make ourselves, and the world, safer. Our military can still be a strong, defensive resource at home.
What in the nature of mankind caused America’s Founders to carefully define, separate, and limit powers in the Constitution?
The Founding Fathers, in their wisdom, saw the tendency of people to support either kings or mob rule. They established a limited, republican, representative government to limit the opportunity for people to try and control each other's lives through government force.
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
I am a Christian and I believe religious views are personal.
When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and immigration, which of the following best describes you overall?
No Answer
Please provide publicly available information validating your answer to the previous question.
I am a libertarian. That means that I believe in personal freedom and limited government. Many voters will view me as conservative because I believe that government should not tax people, restrict rights or meddle in personal affairs. Some conservative voters will believe that my views lean left in areas like drug policy and foreign policy, but every political decision I make is weighed against the following question: Is this policy (or law) Constitutional? I believe the Constitution should be the standard that all our political decisions are measured against.
How would you promote healthcare coverage that is adequate, affordable and accessible for all?
I believe the healthcare industry should be deregulated as much as possible to allow for free market competition. This will dramatically reduce costs and make healthcare affordable for people of all incomes. It will also allow private charities to operate with more ease and for innovation in the medical field to come to the public more rapidly. With less regulation, doctors, chiropractors and healthcare providers will be able to offer better pricing to the public. The unseen costs of regulation far exceed what the average layperson is aware of. For example, chiropractors are not allowed to offer their services discounted through Groupon in California for "safety reasons". Ridiculous laws like this harm the consumer.
What role should government play in boosting the economy?
Deregulation. Let the free market and innovation shape and grow our economy.
What changes should be made to the tax code?
We need to shrink the tax code as much as possible. Shrink or eliminate federal income tax, shrink corporate taxes, and provide as many tax breaks as possible.
What is the best way to bring down unemployment?
Deregulation will increase the number of jobs on the marketplace without the need for any government stimulus through taxation. Free markets and technological innovation are the keys to sustainable, long term, job growth and economic success in the United States.
How would you guarantee Social Security benefits for future generations?
We need to privatize retirement in the United States. Again, deregulation will allow a wide variety of affordable retirement plans for people of all income brackets. We need real deregulation - not just a few token policy changes. Financial service providers need to be able to meet the demands of consumers. Taxation for the sake of social security in the near future (at the cost of future generations) is unsustainable. This is an issue that the public needs to have an honest conversation about, while looking at the obvious unsustainability of our current social security mess.
What education or experience qualifies you to hold the office for which you seek election?
I am very educated in economic policy, influenced by the works of Hayek, Bastiat, and Mises. In addition to my college education, I have worked in law for over eight years, dealing directly with real estate legislation.
