Allowing for abortion is currently the law of the land. But I support the Hyde Amendment, barring the use of federal funds to pay for abortion except to save the life of the woman, or if pregnancy arises from incest or rape.

(1) Lead and back strong coalitions to continue to prevent ISIS and Al Qaeda from taking over major sanctuary areas. (2) Continue to press for democratic (not always by our standards but capable of representing a sovereign) institutions. Hold accountable those that attempt to thwart democratic efforts. (3) Support military and law enforcements efforts in fragile regimes that are targets of radical Islamic presence.

I trust Americans. I recognize the importance of preserving freedom and independence from government control. I support free markets and choice, and I believe that Americans can compete with anyone if the rules are fair. I believe in federalism and locally-derived public policy.

How would you promote healthcare coverage that is adequate, affordable and accessible for all?
Here are the key elements of what I think need to constitute healthcare policy reform. (1) Patients needs more “skin in the game” to make more of their healthcare choices. This includes bringing insurance back to what it’s meant for; catastrophic medical costs, not everyday things. (2) Open opportunities to allow for more competition by encouraging additional practices and provider options. This includes across state and country lines to allow for increased competitiveness. (3) Give tax breaks for good decision making for health, based on value.

I have also been in government; worked for the U.S. Department of State, the Marine Corps, the Intelligence community, and for Homeland Security. I graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy and have an MBA, MS, and MA - all of which contribute to my ability to serve in Congress.
