Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?
When patient/mother and her doctor reach consensus. It is not the public's domain to dictate health care decisions for anyone. Providing support systems to allow alternative choices can be provided if the public is willing to pay for those costs (similar to planned-parent-hood system)
What should the United States do to help eradicate the threat of radical Islamic terrorism?
Provide/support safe havens in areas of historic instability, allowing everyday people a chance to have a better/healthier life, free of any need to resort to extremism/violence. Similiar to the Marshall plan post WWII, but tailored regionally...
What in the nature of mankind caused America’s Founders to carefully define, separate, and limit powers in the Constitution?
To ensure that no one person or branch of government could gain singular political control of the Country. I suppose this comes from understanding the nature of greed within men (absolute power corrupts absolutely). Sharing/Balance of Power yeilds fairness.
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
Golden Rule: Treat others how you would like to be treated. Golden Mean: Live in moderation, never in excess. Education: Give a man a fish and he can eat for a day, teach a man how to fish and he can feed himself for a lifetime.
When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and immigration, which of the following best describes you overall?
Moderate
Please provide publicly available information validating your answer to the previous question.
N/A
How would you promote healthcare coverage that is adequate, affordable and accessible for all?
A number of methods to explore... Allow for generic drug imports. Limit patent rights duration-protections on critical drugs. Allow expansion of Medicaid to cover all. Make certain medical services linked to local financing (similar to Fire and Police) via property taxes. Require upfront billing and transparent costing to allow patients to "shop" prices. Ensure insurance companies must compete for customers (no monopolies within regions/state)
What role should government play in boosting the economy?
Provide breaks to small businesses. Ensure Super-large companies pay fair-share of the tax burden Reduce red-tape/bureaucracy in government and streamline processing.
What changes should be made to the tax code?
The top end of the bracket should be paying a higher percentage (top 2% of earners). Capital gains should be taxed at a higher percentage or incorporated directly into a person's earnings (no special privileges) Try to lower tax rate on the middle class.
What is the best way to bring down unemployment?
Education and training in tandem with developing an understanding of what job fields are expanding to place people into those jobs with the requisite training. Eliminate subsidies for big-business in order to promote competition from small-business that tends to have higher employment base.
How would you guarantee Social Security benefits for future generations?
Eliminate the upper-end cap on the collection threshold. A slight increase in the payroll tax. Gauge retirement age based on changes in life-expectancy.
What education or experience qualifies you to hold the office for which you seek election?
Bachelors of Science degree from UC Berkeley. 15+ Years of experience as a Civil Engineer solving real-world problems and focusing on getting work done efficiently and with practicality. Financially stable with no ties to private/political-party funding.
