OTHER IMPORTANT ISSUES

Human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection at every stage until natural death.

Strongly Agree

I voted in these primaries and general elections:

2010 Republican Primary, 2012 General Election, 2012 Republican Primary, 2014 General Election, 2014 Republican Primary, 2016 General Election, 2016 Republican Primary

Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?

I truly wish abortion was a pure medical decision, like amputation. If it were, abortion would exist but it would not end the lives of 40 million children. It would be rare and seldom used. My mother died when I was 16. At the time of her death she was carrying both cancer and a child. The rules in 1962 aren't what we have now. People and medicine will always have trouble. Laws can not think nor do they care.

What should the United States do to help eradicate the threat of radical Islamic terrorism?

The United States should facilitate a Convention of Imams worldwide to discuss "What is Muslim". The religion is at war with itself (Sunni vs Shiite) and in-between murdering each other they murder other people as well. It is the Islamic Religion itself which must end the radical madness. Northern Ireland solved its problems with discussion. Muslims can replicate that success.

What in the nature of mankind caused America’s Founders to carefully define, separate, and limit powers in the Constitution?

The Founders of America so hated government that they grabbed their rifles from the mantelpiece, went outside, and killed it. Our present form of government is the 2nd attempt at governing ourselves since the Declaration of Independence. The distribution of power among three separate, co-equal branches was to ensure only the MOST important business would survive to become law for the states to obey. They did their best to reduce the tyranny of the majority.

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I am a Bible reader who attempts to live a life which the Bible directs. Martin Luther King, Jr. was a strong supporter of the Bible and its teachings. MLK, Jr beliefs changed the world, America, and certainly affected me. I believe if you have two feet you should stand on them. If you have a head you should hold it high. If something's missing, then you need help but not necessarily government help. Religious communities should be in the forefront of assisting those who need help.

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and immigration, which of the following best describes you overall?

Conservative

Please provide publicly available information validating your answer to the previous question.

My Twitter account will provide some insight into my conservative values. I believe the individual is the absolutely best foundation upon which to build a society. Aristotle observed 500 years before Jesus was born that "They don't listen to their elders. They don't know their history and they play their music too loud.". So, who was he speaking about...teenagers! What has really changed in the world?

How would you promote healthcare coverage that is adequate, affordable and accessible for all?

My concern in the healthcare field is "costs". If an x-ray cost is $35 I really don't need insurance to pay for it. If the cost is $250 then maybe I really do need coverage. There are rules and regulations which add to the cost of care which, if eliminated, could reduce costs to affordable (out of pocket) levels. Accessibility issues, for me, equate to who controls the insurance companies? I want the state of Maryland to be in control. We have an Insurance Commissioner, Governor, Legislature which has done well in the past. To correct any problems or deficiencies you could go directly to the Insurance Commissioner. However, with a National Health Insurance plan I now need the assistance of 218 Congressmen and 60 Senators to change anything. National, anything, becomes too complicated and beyond control.

What role should government play in boosting the economy?

Government sets the rules of the economic game. Everyone in the game wants money, even the government. Consumers want "stuff" cheap. Manufacturers, retailers, truckers, and shopping mall owners want customers with money. As we have seen between 2016 and now regulations played a huge part of the resurgence of the American economy. The recent tax cut is second boost to the economy and incentives to return factories to American soil. It is my belief that the smaller government can become in the economic cycle, the larger the benefits will be to average, everyday citizen.

What changes should be made to the tax code?

There should be a balanced budget requirement which requires a budget every year (America has not had a budget for most of the last 9 years). An annual budget should have unencumbered monies available for earthquakes, floods, and the unforeseen. It should also have a component to retire debt, bolster pension plans, and to assist the needy. The tax cuts should be made permanent and spending plans should be reduced. Rather than increasing the minimum wage I suggest that the "40 hour overtime rule" be eliminated. This would allow employers to bump up wages $1 - $3 dollars per hour without causing inflation or any dislocation in the labor markets.

What is the best way to bring down unemployment?

Allow people to keep whatever they earn. Unemployment is now at historic lows and we need to encourage people on public assistance to work. The dignity of a paycheck is more than just OK. Dignity is a major component of the human condition.

How would you guarantee Social Security benefits for future generations?

Cash in the bank is a great way to guarantee the future. Balanced budgets will allow and guarantee that Social Security survives. If budget line items are filled in with a number then awareness of the future is guaranteed.

What education or experience qualifies you to hold the office for which you seek election?

As a school teacher in high schools and college I have taught several academic subjects, including American History. To teach the subject you have to investigate, discover, and absorb the information. I have a sense of perspective. My service in Vietnam and travels overseas have given me a perspective on "What is America" and how important we are to the world.

Is there anything else you would like voters to know about you?

EGG - "Everybody's Gotta Go" is a campaign designed for Congressmen in Maryland. The current crew of 8 have been there a while but they aren't working and aren't talk to one another. They're out of ideas, out of touch, and out of enthusiasm. EGG. I need Congressmen who will shepherd bills through the House so that I can get them in the Senate. The current Congressional crew is out of new ideas, out of touch, and they're doing "politics" very well BUT..."Representation"...not so much. As a coach I'm telling Maryland I need new team members. Thank your incumbent representative for their service BUT, please, don't send them back. Pick the new guy.
