Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?

Rape, incest, if the birth would cause physical harm to the mother (such as death). Doctors and Nurses who work in medical facilities that receive federal funding should not be at risk of losing their jobs if performing abortions goes against their moral and religious beliefs. Planned Parenthood should have federal funding for services provided to women that impact their health, such as yearly pap smears, gynecological medical treatment, various screenings to prevent disease and counseling.

What should the United States do to help eradicate the threat of radical Islamic terrorism?

The United States should take a firm stand against the threat of radical Islamic terrorism. This type of "political ideology" goes against the grain of the freedoms of the United States Constitution. The United States is not at war against Islam or Muslims (or as some say Medina or Mecca Muslims). However, the United States must be able to take swift action against extreme violent powers which threatens our civil and political freedoms.

What in the nature of mankind caused America’s Founders to carefully define, separate, and limit powers in the Constitution?

Sin is the nature of humanity that caused America's Founders to carefully define, separate, and limit of powers in the Constitution. We are all sinful because mankind is often lured by temptation which impacts the ability to choose wisely and not be decietful. The immediate access to all or a few of these "powers" at the same time could lead to totalitarianism.

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

My father's family are devout Episcopalians. My uncle was an accomplished Episcopal priest, and my cousin followed in his footsteps. I attended an all-girls Catholic High School, where Christian values were reinforced. I believe that the bible is comprised of "living words" that heal the human spirit. I also believe in the institution of marriage, and God's love for all of us can be seen in each other and through our many talents that have been bestowed upon each one of us so that we will be able to spread his love and sustain our homes.

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and immigration, which of the following best describes you overall?

Conservative

Please provide publicly available information validating your answer to the previous question.

Leaders should serve people not special interests, culture should respect and protect life, social programs should help to lift people out of poverty or a temporarily tough time, there should be a division between church and state, families and communities should be strong and free from government intrusion where ever possible.

How would you promote healthcare coverage that is adequate, affordable and accessible for all?

Healthcare should not penalize those who choose to not purchase it. Healthcare should be affordable without being penalized for pre existing conditions. Healthcare should be accessible.

What role should government play in boosting the economy?

The government should be held accountable to the same principals that are expected of individuals. Attempt to balance the budget and live within its means.

What changes should be made to the tax code?

More incentives that will impact the middle class.

What is the best way to bring down unemployment?

More strategic alliance between workforce demand and what students are being taught in college.

How would you guarantee Social Security benefits for future generations?

Adjust the retirement age.

What education or experience qualifies you to hold the office for which you seek election?

My experience as a single parent, community leader, children's advocate, commitment to education, a career in the arts and understanding that it takes all of us to keep this country moving forward is what qualifies me to hold office as a public servant for District 8.
