Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?

For life of the mother only in cases where the embryo/fetus would die.

What in the nature of mankind caused America’s Founders to carefully define, separate, and limit powers in the Constitution?

Prevent the establishment of a tyranny like that from which they were struggling to be free. Our founding fathers were concerned about the American government evolving into an autocratic system restraining individual freedom. The founding fathers sought for a government directly answerable to the people it would serve and thereby, we have a Constitution beginning with “We the People.”

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

As a Christian, I believe there is only one God. Jesus, as the Son of God, was sent to save mankind from death and sin. Compassion through the love of God and love of one’s neighbor is the central core of being a faithful Christian for we are all people made in the image of God and united in the Body of Christ.

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and immigration, which of the following best describes you overall?

Conservative

Please provide publicly available information validating your answer to the previous question.

I have not previously held office so no public information is available.

What is the best way to bring down unemployment?

Encourage economic growth and development through pro-business advocacy and legislation while keeping taxes low. For workers, we need a strong workforce development system working to retrain and reemploy good hard-working Hoosiers in high-growth industries.

How would you promote healthcare coverage that is adequate, affordable and accessible for all?

The current healthcare system is unaffordable for a majority of Hoosiers and small businesses. To appropriate management of healthcare insurance to the government ensures a tangle of red tape bureaucracy and high costs surely to increase our trillion-plus dollar debt. Instead, we should implement an idea first proposed by Senator John McCain and later by Senator Rand Paul to offer a universal health refund transferring all government tax and spending subsidies to citizens every year with no strings attached other than the requirements it be used for health care. Wrap this proposal with a flexible health savings account so money not spent can be saved tax-free for future medical expenses. With less government intrusion and innovative ideas, we can make healthcare both affordable and available when you need it.

What role should government play in boosting the economy?

Reduce the tax burden, lower healthcare costs and reduce energy prices so employers can focus on creating jobs thereby growing the economy. Let’s advocate for small business. In Indiana, we have a half-million small businesses employing over 1.2 million Hoosiers making up 97.2% of total businesses and almost 50% of the total state workforce. Small businesses are an economic powerhouse. By encouraging a free-market system void of government intrusion and excessive regulation, we can encourage further and deeper small business growth and entrepreneurial activity.

What education or experience qualifies you to hold the office for which you seek election?

As a longtime educator, I recognize the challenges faced by teachers and administrators. This personal experience provides an extraordinary perspective in contrast to my opponent who is a government lawyer and gives me the experience to lead in improvements to the student experience and quality of educational outcomes in Indiana. As a business owner, I have meaningful experience and a pragmatic, disciplined approach in managing and budgeting. With education comprising the largest funding percentage of the state budget, I am uniquely prepared to offer awareness and vision in tax dollar allocation and spending. I have served on local economic development teams, been involved in community development projects throughout central Indiana and have facilitated workforce development conversations to a national audience. This experience is leadership we need in our community to balance growth while preserving the existing harmony of our neighborhoods.
