Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?
At no time should federal or state tax monies be used to fund abortion. While the law of the land states women have a right to determine what happens with their bodies, science has shown hearts begin beating quickly after conception and heartbeats can be seen and heard at 5 weeks. My religious beliefs are life begins at conception. If science believes the possibility of life from bacterial samples, then the scientific world should also concede what most people know: life begins at conception. Forcing medical providers to perform procedures they find immoral is not something I support. Religious institutions and all people have the right to hold their religious beliefs and not act against those beliefs. While there are times a mother and child may face imminent death, these times are rare because of advanced medical technology. It is my fervent prayer our government's mistakes in judicial rulings may one day recognize science and stop supporting the murder of babies.
What in the nature of mankind caused America’s Founders to carefully define, separate, and limit powers in the Constitution?
John Adams had this to say: " Government is instituted for the common good; for the safety, prosperity and happiness of the people; and not for profit, honor, or private interest of any man, family, or class of men; therefore, the people alone have an incontestable, unalienable, and indefeasible right to institute government; and to reform, alter, or totally change the same, when their protection, safety, prosperity and happiness require it." I agree.
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
As a Christian, my faith knows God is the Father and Creator of all things. I was raised in a Christian home where my father was Catholic and my mother was Methodist. I attended both churches and Sunday school until I made the choice to attend the organized institution which nurtured my spiritual needs. I believe in the sanctity of life and that marriage in the church is between one man and one woman. I have hope and faith for all of mankind to one day live in peace, but also realize God has given us the will and might to stand up for and defend our families and neighbors against those who do not hold these things as precious and worthy. As a Christian, I look for the good in all people and strive to understand the differences we may have, knowing this is all part of our unique world. But as an American, I also believe we have the unique duty to uphold, nurture and defend our way of life, through prayer, good works, and protection.
When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and immigration, which of the following best describes you overall?
Very Conservative
Please provide publicly available information validating your answer to the previous question.
I was raised where hard work and perseverance was expected. My father worked in sales and later started a business. My mother was a RN, as was her mother, working as maternity nurses. My Great Grandfather immigrated from Germany at 16, serving General Ulysses Grant. My father, a Korean Vet., also was a Deputy Sheriff. I attended church, learned respect for country in scouting and participation in patriotic activities, obeyed rules, and worked in our business on weekends and summers. My father was a Democrat for years, but I later convinced him his beliefs were in line with Republican thinking. I became a Young Republican after college, helping the Bush 43 primary campaign, and then the Reagan campaign. I have volunteered for 2 judicial campaigns, and after retirement, worked not only as a guest teacher, but also for the Ohio Republican Party as a Field Organizer, bringing Butler County to a Republican victory in the 2016 Presidential election, including all down-ballot candidates.
What is the best way to bring down unemployment?
Education is first and foremost the best cure for unemployment, coupled with quality jobs created through a healthy economic climate. Keeping taxes low, reducing job killing restrictions and inviting innovation through quality urban and suburban development is a proven formula to attracting small and large business development. Ohio must change the way we educate our children. Restrictive, one-size-fits-all educational programs have not served our children well. Over-testing has become an obsession, while collecting data which has little predictive value of a child's future abilities or desires. Quality after-school programs, enhancing the arts and involving responsible adults will help curb the growing problem of young people experimenting with drugs and alcohol. Establishing a solid work ethic with livable wages will reduce the need for a large unemployment program. Stopping illegal immigration with better borders and educating the under-employed is essential.
How would you promote healthcare coverage that is adequate, affordable and accessible for all?
Health care and health insurance are two very different things. One purchases insurance to help off-set catastrophic costs for big ticket injuries and illnesses. Health care providers must be allowed to practice their craft without the restrictive dictates of insurance companies. The private market and quality providers can offer quality care if we are not encumbered with overpriced, under performing insurance. Allowing for open market across state lines would allow for healthy competition. Government should not be in charge of dictating health care or coverage. Creating health savings accounts can be one way of encouraging families to save the money in a compounding way, rather then spending it on large, unproductive premiums.
What role should government play in boosting the economy?
Government can play an important role in the background of job development, by allowing for; low tax rates, developing initiatives and incentives, and returning local control and taxation to villages, townships, counties and cities. Government has oversight when it comes to keeping roads and bridges in good order, power grids up-to-date and able to be expanded, and the incentives to provide the best technology options possible to residents. People want communities which are safe, with a visible, trained, and responsive police force. Residents want fire departments to be responsive and well developed. And families want homes located in areas replete with quality recreational, shopping, and medical care facilities, all supported by actively engaged, quality schools.
What education or experience qualifies you to hold the office for which you seek election?
After graduating Fairfield High School, I earned a BS in Education from Miami University. I taught in Fairfield and then worked as regional sales manager and supervisor for our family business, where I worked weekends and summers since age 13. After growing the business, and establishing guidelines for training and communications, I earned several Dale Carnegie awards. I then taught in Mason City Schools for ten years, serving as Membership Rep for our teacher organization, Building Rep, initiated the expansion of the school library program to Kindergarten students, instituted changes in screening for incoming Kindergartners and earned a Master of Education in Emergent Literacy from Miami. I taught in the Lakota Local School district for 20 years serving on the Professional Development Committee, the state board of EKNE, Language Arts & Math Committees, and taught as an adjunct professor for 15 years, while hosting 10 student teachers from 3 Universities and joining Kappa Delta Pi.

Is there anything else you would like voters to know about you?
After retiring from an active teaching career, I decided to continue serving my community and state through positive leadership. Effective legislative decisions can create solutions to vexing problems, which are found throughout our beautiful state. Education is key to solving many of our problems. Well educated students who are equipped with a solid work-ready ethic, will drive our economy. Good paying jobs brought to Ohio through bold business initiatives will create the steady base needed to grow and expand our presence in the world market. Fiscally responsible decisions which impact communities, businesses and residents while maximizing local control, is imperative. These initiatives will allow Ohio to continue it's upward climb.
