Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?
Life begins at conception and all life should be protected. Therefore there should not be exceptions to allowing abortion.

What in the nature of mankind caused America’s Founders to carefully define, separate, and limit powers in the Constitution?
I believe our system of government was crafted brilliantly by our Founders. Man is inherently flawed with sin and will try to gather power and infringe upon the rights of others. Our system that limits the power of any one branch or person helps to ensure that we, as citizens, do not become subjects. Unfortunately, we are losing that knowledge of how important our system is. We need more elected officials and citizens to realize how brilliant our constitutional republic is.

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
I have been Roman Catholic my entire life and continue to practice that faith today and raise my children in that faith. My wife and I are actively involved in our church because we believe in the importance of having a strong faith life. While I am not outwardly religious, my faith is the foundation of who I am and what I believe. It influences my decision making processes and how I interact with fellow citizens.

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and immigration, which of the following best describes you overall?
Conservative
Please provide publicly available information validating your answer to the previous question.
I have not held public office before, and therefore would not have a voting record of which to evaluate where I stand on certain issues. However, as a matter of principle, I consider myself to be conservative. I belief in personal responsibility, economic freedom and religious liberties. I believe that decisions are best made at home by parents or at the most local level possible. My proof for this is how I live my life everyday as a parent, small business owner, and invested community member.

What is the best way to bring down unemployment?
In our area of Ohio, unemployment is very low. Employers are struggling to find workers. The potential workers that are out there cannot pass a drug test or do not want to give up their government benefits to take a job. This needs to be curtailed. We have made it too easy for people to stay on the sidelines and not take jobs. Unfortunately, this has gone on for multiple generations and this mentality of government assistance has become an expectation. We need to remove the incentives for people to stay unemployed.
How would you promote healthcare coverage that is adequate, affordable and accessible for all?
People already have access to healthcare. If needed, they can walk into an emergency room and receive treatment. The problem is that our discussion isn't focused on healthcare anymore. It's focused on health insurance and we use those terms interchangeably. The large health insurers and now health care networks/hospitals have such a stranglehold on the health system that patients do not have many choices. Our public policies have made it advantageous for these mergers to happen. This is a negative consequence of government getting involved in something it probably shouldn't. When you walk into a doctor's office, you have no idea how much their services are and even when you receive a bill it is very complicated. People have lost touch with the responsibility of their health. We should be promoting allowing more competition into the healthcare industry that would allow people to go to their local doctor who hopefully will have more flexibility to be affordable and accessible.

What role should government play in boosting the economy?
Government's main role in boosting the economy is to reduce regulations as much as possible. We need to make it easier for people to start businesses, not more cumbersome. When people innovate and start new businesses or expand their businesses, they hire people, buy products and the economy grows.

What education or experience qualifies you to hold the office for which you seek election?
My experience as a husband and father, as a farmer and small business owner, and as an invested leader within my community makes me the most qualified candidate seeking this office. I am passionate about the opportunity to represent my neighbors who share the same values as I do: values based in their faith, family and work ethic.

Is there anything else you would like voters to know about you?
I am heavily involved and have a deep understanding of our main industry in this district:agriculture. As a farmer and conservation professional I know we live in an area of Ohio that faces many challenges to agriculture and I believe a strong, thriving agricultural sector makes our communities better. Agriculture is our heritage and is the main reason why, along with our faith, that we are successful in the 84th District. Agriculture is the common thread that holds our communities together and if we allow individuals to represent us who do not understand this, then in 25-50 years our communities no longer look the same.
